Yeah, the only thing I could really knock yesterday was Stone not running it out to 1st base on a grounder and allowing the base runner to get there on what should have been an easy out. That kept the inning alive in the 2nd for VT and the made us pay by scoring 2 runs. Outside of that, the team played a pretty solid game start to finish. VT also has guys in LF and RF with cannons. They made two pretty amazing throws to take runners off the base paths in the first two innings. It seemed to be enough to make us a little less aggressive later in the game. 4/8/2013 8:59:24 AM |

no, but it really should be an easy sweep
also the biggest difference form last year is that our bullpen is a strong point of this team 4/8/2013 1:07:07 PM |

Boston College has only played 4 games at home all season. Beat Harvard last week and then got swept by Clemson.
FYI: Tomorrow's ECU game is also Beach Day.
Warren Nolan RPI is at 11 and SOS is 9th.

Pretty solid defense from both teams. There were a lot of hard hit balls, but all of them on both sides seemed to be right at someone. The ball also wasn't carrying at all last night. There were a couple that looked like they might have a chance to go out or at least find a gap but they just seemed to hang and die in the air and just turned into long outs. Ratledge had a couple of really nice plays at 2nd. He definitely stole one hit on a diving catch up the middle and made a nice catch & flip to Turner to start a double play on another tough one. As many times as we made solid contact it was a bloop single that scored both of our runs. 4/10/2013 7:31:09 AM |

Got the sweep of BC with a 3-2 win. Stone had a no hitter going into the 7th and the hit that broke it up drove in a run. Our bats finally woke up in the 8th along with a couple of BC errors and the Pack got all 3 runs. The bullpen did well again with Woeck, Overman, and Sasser making an appearance.
State is now 28-10 (11-7) with a midweek game at Charlotte on Tuesday and a series at Georgia Tech up next. 4/14/2013 10:44:15 PM |

Beat Charlotte 2-1. State scored 1 run each in the 1st and 2nd innings. Ogburn was perfect through 6 and then allowed 2 hits. Overman and Sasser pitched in the 9th. Charlotte's 1 run was unearned due to a fielding error with 2 outs in the 9th. The Charlotte runner on third scored easily, but the runner who was on first got caught between home and third with Austin tagging him out to end the game. Final out went 9-3-5-2

^^ That actually happens almost yearly for the ACC and sometimes for the Big 12, SEC, or Pac 12 since the Big Ten and Big East are garbage at baseball. There are a few small schools that jump up in the rankings too like Rice, Wichita State, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach, etc, but for the most part the ACC, SEC, Big 12, and Pac 12 normally dominate college baseball (although the ACC hasn't won a title in forever it seems) 4/22/2013 5:39:44 PM |
