I read another article where helmet-cam guy's lawyer said his client is "panicked" and has been getting death threats. My guess is it could be bikers and/or their family and friends. Possibly some police officers?

Thought this was interesting.

“As a trucker that would deliver in north jersey and New York I am familiar with these groups. I can hopefully clarify a few things. First the initial “accident” is part of a game they play. They ride in a huge group and will operate together to slow down traffic.

Next they pick out high end vehicles targeting people with families in them, the targets will usually be white or Asian. Then one of the riders will do a “brake check” and stop suddenly in front of the target vehicle causing a minor bump. In some cases they will just roll back into their target vehicle. They will then mob the vehicle demanding money and or begin attacking the person inside. It is their practice to also slash the tires to prevent the vehicle from escaping.

Truckers are well aware of them and are advised not to stop. You can clearly see in the video how they are well practiced in this style of attack. The police in NY have backed off them after an officer ran one down using his vehicle a few months back. The video was all over the net so I advise you to check it out.

These “bikers” ride dirt bikes and sport bikes very few of which are street legal and even fewer have plates. They run red lights, stop signs, and have no regard for the law. If you are ever in this situation do not stop, immediately call the police and do whatever you have to to keep them from boxing you in. NEVER leave the scene of an accident if you are not under direct threat!!! Only run if you have no other choice, and again immediately call the police.

This is not rare by any means, the only reason this incident got any attention is because of the helmet cam video being posted on the net. If you see anyone in this situation, call the police.

Make no mistake confusing these punks with true bikers. You will rarely if ever see a member of these gangs on a Harley. Do not for a minute blame true bikers for this kind of behavior. Bikers like those involved in the 2 million Bikers to DC Rally are American Patriots and would be among the first to come to your aid.

A final note, always be aware of motorcycles and share the road. Check your mirrors and don’t ride anyone’s bumper, motorcycles have a much smaller profile then a car and are harder to see.”

1. ? A bunch of motorcycles on the road is not a "traffic nightmare." I don't care what you drive--slow down when the bikers wanna do their obnoxious biker thing. I do the same for cyclists, dog enthusiasts, and drunken caravans.

2. If you're gonna tap a biker on the road and then run over a human being while you try to "escape," don't drive to a destination where you'll inevitably hit stopped traffic. Stay on the highway if necessary.

Bridget, the biker that he "tapped" was slowing down intentionally to obstruct the vehicle. Watch the full video and you can see that. As for running one of the bikers over, while it's unfortunate, when there are a bunch of bikers crowding around and banging on your vehicle, would you just stay put?

Driving out of there was an act of self defense and protection of his family. They threatened him before he hit the gas to escape. In fact when they got him traffic and beat him use of deadly force would have been justified. He had every right to run over more of them (and he probably should have given they were pretty much going to kill him if nobody intervened).

I don't see how anyone can defend the bikers. The worst thing you can accuse the SUV driver of is holding his ground. Just because there are a bunch of jobless clown assholes driving like morons doesn't mean the rest of traffic has to accommodate them. Just because you're an asshole on a bike doesn't mean you have the right of way. In nature, mass determines who has the actual right of way. SUVs are bigger than bikes. Justice was served.

But I am opposing your attitude, that because someone is an obnoxious menace, you should "hold your ground" and let nature serve up "justice."

The biker cut him off, I'm sure, and all the other guys are riding like five to a lane, which is totally illegal. So, yeah, if you want to...then hold your ground, bump a kid on a bike, start a melee that ends with you having to plow over people. You're totally justified.

But, to me, being justified is not the same thing as being right (or moral). The right thing to do is to conduct yourself in a way that prevents accidents/altercations. And I'd like to think other drivers/riders understand that fact.

We can't all be idiot babies, holding our ground with two-ton cars ready to serve up justice to lame assholes. Or maybe you can, but you probably shouldn't do it with your wife and kid in the car, and you should definitely be prepared for a fight...cause they feel equally justified.
