Just got back from the game. I don't know if I've ever been more embarrassed to be a state fan. We have zero offensive identity and no defense, especially in the paint. We need to give TJ the ball more, there were several spans where I didn't even know he was on the floor, all offense should run through him.

y'all act like even very good teams don't experience WTF out-of-conference losses at the beginning of the season while they're still trying to find their identity and mesh. our bunch of freshmen, sophomores and newly-eligible transfers lost to a team playing 5 seniors (including a 24 year old, apparently) and 3 juniors that shot 91.1% from the line in a game with tons of fouls.

yes, we have more talent than them and we didn't play like it, but it's not like last year's team where we had some experienced players and some expectation of maturity from them. i, for one, don't mind a loss here so much if our young guys learn from this.

1) we have a virtually brand new team playing in its 4th game together with a ton of foul issues
2) they shot better from the line tonight than last year's team did for the year
3) in case you haven't noticed, the disparity between major conference teams and those from mid-majors or smaller is become less and less dramatic

also, on a normal night, holding your opponent to ~40% from the field and <20% from behind the arc is pretty solid. it's not so good when you shoot just as poorly and commit 30 fouls.

I think we are starting to prove that the UCLA offense doesn't work when you have zero inside game. Just winds up with four guys standing around the three point line. Weird to see after watching the ball go through Howell and Leslie the last few years.
On the positive side they kept fighting to the end and Cat Barber looked pretty impressive.
