My predictions:

Aug. 30 Georgia Southern (Wolfpack Club Day) - close W
Sept. 6 Old Dominion (Ag Day) - W
Sept. 13 @ South Florida - close L (we suck on the road, USF will be better next year)
Sept. 20 Presbyterian - easy W
Sept. 27 Florida State - embarassing L
Oct. 4 @ Clemson - embarrassing L
Oct. 11 Boston College (Hall of Fame Day) - close L
Oct. 18 @ Louisville - L
Oct. 25 Open
Nov. 1 @ Syracuse - close L
Nov. 8 Georgia Tech (Homecoming) - close L
Nov. 15 Wake Forest - close W
Nov. 22 Open
Nov. 29 @ North Carolina - close L

4-8 (1-7 ACC, 0-5 on the road, 4-3 at home)

Maybe if we pull off a couple of those close losses, then we manage to get into a horrible bowl game.

Aug. 30 Georgia Southern (Wolfpack Club Day)- better be a win, since they're transitioning to FBS, W
Sept. 6 Old Dominion (Ag Day)- garbage, W
Sept. 13 @ South Florida- they were awful last year. I've been to pro games at Raymond James. Not intimidating at all. W
Sept. 20 Presbyterian- seriously? W
Sept. 27 Florida State- 70 to 3 L
Oct. 4 @ Clemson- 40 to 3 L
Oct. 11 Boston College (Hall of Fame Day)- because we never beat these sorts of teams, L
Oct. 18 @ Louisville- road division game, L
Oct. 25 Open
Nov. 1 @ Syracuse- see Louisville, L
Nov. 8 Georgia Tech (Homecoming)- we'll pull out a W and set off an era of good feelings lasting the rest of the year...
Nov. 15 Wake Forest- always a W at home
Nov. 22 Open
Nov. 29 @ North Carolina- did I say "era" of good feelings? I meant 3 weeks. L

6-6 and a garbage bowl that not even UNC Pembroke should accept, but just enough to convince everyone he's turning the corner. We've always been really good at convincing ourselves that mediocrity is around the corner from greatness, when it's really just around the corner from mediocrity. We'll beat a MAC team in some bowl on ESPN2. What a joke.

He's gonna ride the "we shouldn't fire him, he's almost there and we don't want to look like we don't give people ample time to put it all together" line for a few years.

Reasons for Hope
-Second year in the system. Couldn't be any worse
-Almost all the DL is back. Teal and McGill should be absolute beasts
-Lots of young talent at WR with Ramos, Scantlin, Cherry, etc
-Brissett can't be as bad as Thomas/Mitchell ... right?

Reasons for Pessimism
-We didn't win a single conference game last year. That's really all that needs to be said.

We usually play our non-conference early season games at night. They aren't televised (except online) so we can do whatever we want, and obviously we prefer a cool night to a hot and humid day.

So yay for our PRIME TIME game being against THE BLUE HOSE.

I would wager we win at least 5 games, but the over/under off that is 2.

If we're giving him a pass for season 1 to get his guys in, we will have to wait till season 4 to see the results. Just having a 7-5 then season would be considered a success especially with FSU,Clemson Lousiville and LSU. Don't we have a home and home with LSU?

That's fine with me. I don't want to get to the national championship by playing mediocre teams only to get blown away by the best team from another conference.

To be the best you gotta beat the best.

No. GS is now FCS.

^^ Are people already talking about hypothetical National Championships we could someday win? We never learn.

The word "Champion" should not be used in any context til we win at least 9 games and beat an SEC, B1G, or Big XII team in a bowl.

This is Doreen's year to prove his worth. I gave him a pass last year b/c he had Thomas and fing Mitchell a wide receiver playing QB. I'm not quite sure if any coach can overcome those circumstances as it was a circus. Thomas was honestly one of the worse if not worst QBs i saw play in 2013. He would give up on plays too early and run the ball, hold the ball too long when he had WIDE OPEN receivers, but that still didn't stop him from throwing 2:1 ratio in interceptions to touchdowns. As the season progress Doreen became more desperate for a win and tried some dumb shit like going for it in our own territory against Duke, but that's what desperation get ya. Anyhow, im NOT giving him a pass this year as he has Brisset and lots of young talent. I think he's done a good job recruiting so time to start competing. I'll wait until watching the spring game to have some expectations on what to expect this year but regardless i will NOT accept another winless conference record.

they're not usually night games. more like mid-afternoon games. i consider a night game to be like an 8:00 start. our games against crap opponents are usually like 4:00 or 6:00 starts. i don't really consider those night games. you know because the game is played in day light.

Think you meant to say FBS. One more time so everyone is clear; Georgia Southern is in the Sun Belt conference, Old Dominion is in C-USA, Presbyterian is FCS. We need 6 wins to be bowl eligible

Those who were willing to give Doeren a pass last season, I don't understand them not giving him a pass this season too. It will be atleast an year or two more before Doeren's recruits start performing.

It's a long way to the top, if you wanna BCS... riff riff riff riff...

our schedule last year was even more pitiful (8 home games) and we went 0-fer in ACC play and almost lost to Richmond. no reason not to be pessimistic. hell, going over on 2 wins is almost optimism compared to the shit we churned out last year

LSU will back out when we hire Les Miles in 2017 but then reschedule when we lose every game and he hangs himself.

I have a little more hope this season for our offense, not really losing any important pieces and adding 2 improvements at QB(Brissett to start and think McClendon would fit the offense better than Thomas but he should still RS).

One advantage to playing so many freshman/sophmores last year, is that this year we should have plenty of experience. Not this coming season, but the following year when most of our starters are Sophmore/Juniors with a couple of years of experience and Brissett is a senior SHOULD be the payoff year for last season and this coming season.

Next year is the year we are building towards our championship run. But that doesn't happen over night, even with a good coach like Duke has. We HAVE to win at least 4 games this year to be on track for a championship run next year.

But that's not happening. I'd be surprised if Coach Doh!ren could stumble his way to one win this year. Regardless, every week is just a suicide watch for the coach. We'll see if he makes it through the season.

5 lafta bucks. Seriously I am always a pessimist about State athletics that my predictions are usually on the low end of what I actually think we will accomplish. I do think we will win one of the 50-50 games between BC, Cuse, GT, or UNC and finish 5-7, but I know better than to wager on State. If I placed that bet, they'd probably go 9-3 and play in the Peach Bowl.

The most unrealistic of those is beating Syracuse. We don't win road division games. An upset is more likely in general than winning against a mediocre division team on the road. I realize Clempson is also on the road, but that pick is meant to be audacious.
