I also went there yesterday. Gave them my usual "Fat Daddy's" name to announce over the intercom..Valvano. The wait for the food preparation was draining. Knowing it was my last Fat Daddy's meal, I almost didn't want to hear Valvano called. When it happened, I sat down in silence, just staring at the burger. Masterpiece of a presentation. I sat in stunned silence that this was truly the finale. I couldn't eat. After 15 minutes or so, I left. Tray of food still perfectly in tact, resting on my table.

My brother in-law is turning 33 this week and my mom will be out of town next weekend, so the family tree is going to eat at Aviator today where they have really good burgers and I won't have to stand outside for an hour and a half.

Part of it has to do with where you live. I generally go to bars and restaurants in downtown Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Fuquay, or Holly Springs because of where I live. I still have never been to White Street Brewery and have only eaten at Ziggy's once, or twice. Fat Daddy's was too far north for me too, but it was good when I went.

As much as I love Coopers, with their *far* superior fried chicken and overall character, the BBQ itself isn't any better [I'd argue it's weaker], and they put absolutely no effort into their sides, which is one place The Pit shines.

You get what you pay for here.

cooper's bbq on a good day is better than the pit's, though admittedly the pit is more consistent

either way, though, the pit is twice as expensive and the atmosphere sucks
