Pretty sure they give you Open Table "Gift Cards" to their participating restaurants. Don't know how many points you need, but I imagine you'd have to eat out a shit-load to get anything significant.

Most restaurants are 100 points and each 2000 you get a $20 card. So it's basically $1 per reservation. A few are 1000 so it's a $10 value but yeah you have to go out a lot (20 times to get $20) to do anything with the points.

^ why?

in my experience, it usually means the steaks they have are enormous and need to be shared by 2-3 people and cost like $50+ a steak

it's not like you can say, "oh i'd just like a 4 ounce bite" plz

that's not been my experience. I prefer a 6-8oz serving of steak, I don't need a 12oz or 16oz hunk.

has anyone done the 7 course at Heron's? Is it worth the extra cost over a regular 4 course meal?

Is this still a thing? Seems like one of many things to get absorbed into the hipster super label.

what do you people think about cream cheese in sushi? I think it's horrible (even conceptually) but I went to an expensive restaurant recently and the courses including sushi w/ cream cheese. it was pretty damned good sushi, admittedly, although I didn't taste the E/m

When I'm going to a sushi restaurant I typically get sashimi and not sushi because if you're paying for good fish I don't want rice and other shit with it (e.g. cream cheese). I had dinner Saturday night at a super good local sushi place and we had 6 people so we just ordered a bunch of stuff for the table where everyone got 1-2 pieces each course and we didn't have any sushi. It wasn't a conscious decision it's just that none of the fresh fish or recommendations from the kitchen were sushi.

Also could someone explain the difference between a foodie and someone who enjoys good food? I don't self-identify as a foodie but I like eating new/good food and finding new restaurants. I really only talk about food or give recommendations if someone asks for them. For me eating is mainly a selfish thing. I like good food and I like sharing good food with good company. I could give a shit if anyone outside that group knows what I'm eating.
