Seems like these cops feel their jobs should entail zero risk whatsoever. That's the only explanation for shooting at things before its even clear they are threats. If you're that goddamn trigger happy and fearful of your own safety, don't be a cop. It's a job that should require someone with actual nerves, not a pussy with a handgun who are allowed to fire at anything that even remotely spooks them. Civilians can do that, the difference between cops and just a random dude with a gun is training and restraint. Or at least it should be. the kid was in a bad situation, set up to be shot, but even still... that cop did not give the kid any time to announce it wasn't a real gun, or to see what the situation really was

Unfortunately, our legislature spends more time debating whether to sue a sitting U.S. President than debating how to solve the fundamental problems holding society back. And even that ultimately comes down to a population that changes who they are going to vote for depending on what videos CNN and Fox News decide they want to play depicting those representatives. I think Congress is one of the biggest problems with regards to their ability to redraw district voting lines every 10 years. They are essentially segregating the nation a long those lines. I do hope we can get some traction on this, but not specifically for one race or another. The justice system is hopelessly skewed against the poor (more accurately those below the upper middle class), not just blacks. If people would stop framing this as purely a racial issue, then we'd be able to get far more traction. It's certainly far more visible against black males, but the fact is that poor whites get fucked hard by the legal system, too. Replace Michael Brown with a poor white male, and I bet you get the same result, minus the media frenzy.

police didn't know about the video and had to mold their story once it came out. Now they are using plausiable deniability in the fact that one police was driving and the other police was shooting. The officer who was driving can't be indicted because all he did was drive up and didn't order the rookie to get out or anything. Meanwhile, the officer who shot the kid was put into a bad situation by the other officer and was too close to the kid to avoid facing the situation. Had it been a real gun, he would have been in point blank shooting range from the car.

You see the kid raise his shirt and show the gun, which, out of context, could normally be construed as a threatening act, and if and when this goes to trial, that's what will be argued. Similar to the Zimmerman case, if you look at the full context, you see a different story, but it's the last 10 seconds that will matter in court, which is total horseshit.
