you know there's a screening process, right?

they don't just round up as many as they can fit on a plane without asking any questions

You always post one liners and emojis but never actually have any content to post. the potential casualties due to inaction in ww2 has been significantly researched. invading japan without the bomb would have cost over a million deaths and thats not even assuming civilians fought to the end. 10-25 million died in china and it would have been worse if it went on longer.
http://www.upa.pdx.edu/IMS/currentprojects/TAHv3/Content/PDFs/Operation_Downfall.pdf
We already know hitler exterminated 6 million jews. Bombing civilians to prevent him reaching more was certainly necessary.

I don't really listen to preachers, right wing or left.

Who else is going to fight their war? Would you like to sign up and go over there?

You can stand there in denial all you want, and say that it isn't confirmed that one of the refugees France took in was part of the attack. But it only takes a few to wreak a lot of havoc.

If you want them here so badly, why don't you open up your home to a few? That would be a great multicultural experience for you and your family.

750,000 refugees admitted since 9/11, 2 have been implicated in aiding alqaeda in Iraq.

There's already a vetting process in place to ferret out terrorists.

I would bet the US completely blocking refugees would create more terrorists than it makes us safe from. ISIS probably already is using Jeb Bush's statements on only letting in Christians in a propaganda video.

God forbid we hurt some feelings and they use it against us.

Have you not learned yet that no matter what we do, they're gonna hate us? Fundamental Islam and western culture will never get along. Appeasement in any shape or form will only show weakness.

But again, are you willing to open your home to some randomly assigned refugee family? If so, you should write ol' Pat and tell him to stop being such a meanie and let them come to NC. (I realize these governors have no Constitutional authority to deny them coming)

This is a fallacy. It's not a force of nature. It didn't come from nowhere. It was created, it's run by other humans that are on average no smarter than us.

Inflating it to the level of a mythical force is what causes us to make mistakes and react inadequately.

Also, not sure how you get "appeasement" from pointing out that Jeb said an absolutely objectively stupid thing.

And it's more appeasing to ISIS to acquiesce to their desire to keep Syrians in Syria for them to kill or radicalize. It's not appeasement for us to show ISIS that our culture is better than theirs and we are genuinely generous, intelligent people that are a force for good in the world.

We show weakness by cowering in fear at Syrian refugees because this is what ISIS intends for us to do.

I'm in favor of bringing in plenty of refugees (properly vetted).

...but there is no fucking point whatsoever in trying to demonstrate anything about our culture or society to ISIS. We're talking about a group who hanged Taliban leaders recently. We should do the right things because they're the right things, but concern with our image in the eyes of ISIS is one of the dumbest fucking ideas I've ever seen espoused.

The hierarchy of crazy Muslims is like this:

-Saudi Wahabis: Fucking crazy.

-al Qaeda: Fucking crazy, and terrorists. OBL roots in Saudi, but got kicked out for being a fuckhead. They are fucking nutty, but at the end of the day, they historically have political goals that they pursue strategically.

-Taliban: ideological roots with the Wahhabis, but even wackier, crazier, and less worldly. Even al Qaeda has had bad blood with these dipshits, finding them too backward and too extreme. Generally play checkers less than chess, a la al Qaeda. Mostly just want to fuck everything all to hell and back in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

ISIS: Doomsday cult who view basically everyone except themselves as heretics who must be killed or enslaved. Hanged Taliban leaders, because they were too moderate or something probably. Everyfuckingbody hates these useless caveman pieces of shit. Everybody. They are absolutely on another plane compared to any other group. There is no enlightening them and showing them that we're really not so bad...what sort of naive, imbecilic idea is that? The only thing to do with ISIS is kill them.

[Edited on November 17, 2015 at 12:20 AM. Reason : we may inflame things with certain Muslims with our FP, but that's not the issue w ISIS.]

I don't think the point is to demonstrate anything to ISIS or to project a certain image to ISIS--Rather, to demonstrate/project to POTENTIAL RECRUITS of ISIS, swaying them to our side, not theirs. Not only is that a good idea, I actually think it's essential.

^ That is intellectually ignorant. If you want to find a Western Civilizational example of it you could perhaps say the French Revolution. And if you don't understand the difference between the American Revolution and the French Revolution you need to go find your history teachers and tell them they failed.

Per BBC, France has invoked the Mutual Defense Clause of the European Union Treaty.

Quote :
"France has for the first time invoked the European Union's mutual defence clause. At a meeting in Brussels, EU defence ministers unanimously backed France's invocation of Article 42.7 of the Treaty of European Union, which obliges all EU member states to provide "aid and assistance" if another is attacked.

But what does this mean? It is a little hard to say at the moment because the clause has never been invoked before, but this is what French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian had to say:

"In practice either there will be co-operation in terms of pooling capabilities... or there will be support given on other operations so lightening our load elsewhere. What I've said to my colleagues is France can't do everything, we can't act alone."

Mr Le Drian added that France was in "very close talks with our partners to take stock of what we can do together and what each partner can contribute"."

https://theintercept.com/2015/11/17/islamic-states-goal-eliminating-the-grayzone-of-coexistence-between-muslims-and-the-west/

Haven't researched this any yet, but supposedly IS said this:

Quote :
"The [Charlie Hebdo attack] had “further [brought] division to the world,” the group said, boasting that it had polarized society and “eliminated the grayzone,” representing coexistence between religious groups. As a result, it said, Muslims living in the West would soon no longer be welcome in their own societies. Treated with increasing suspicion, distrust and hostility by their fellow citizens as a result of the deadly shooting, Western Muslims would soon be forced to “either apostatize … or they [migrate] to the Islamic State, and thereby escape persecution from the crusader governments and citizens,” the group stated, while threatening of more attacks to come."

O'Malley made this comment:

""Accommodating 65,000 refugees in our country, people of 320 million is akin to making room for six and a half more people in a baseball stadium with 32,000," he said."

@JonHaworthSky: #BREAKING: No arrests & no explosive devices recovered in Hannover according to Boris Pistorius, Minister of Interior Niedersachsen.

I'm curious if anything turns up. Like I said, I remember this happening almost daily after 9/11. Nothing wrong with some vigilance though.

^Well written. I saw a good analogy yesterday, "You have a bowl full of M&M's. Two of them are poisonous, but look like the rest. Are you going to eat a hand full of M&M's?"

^I can't stand Todd Starnes, and I don't think that's really a good analogy at all. To make it more realistic: If you don't eat any M&M's, many of the good M&M's will see your prejudice against them and become poison themselves, allying themselves with the bad M&M's. Furthermore, they will be so radicalized by your ostracization they will sneak into your Reese's Pieces when you aren't looking and you will be poisoned by them, anyway.

Still a shitty analogy, I think, but I definitely think that's more realistic.

OK, maybe? Or maybe you just found one of their hideouts.
