^ Yeah if this was a presidential debate I'd say Pence probably won (when I adjust for my own implicit bias, personally I think Kaine won in a landslide but I agree with his positions so I can't trust my own objectivity) but that doesn't matter. Pence seemed like a guy who was trying to win a debate for his own presidential campaign in 4 years instead of winning a debate for his own candidate.

Kaine did come across as a jerk, but one of his primary "duties" is the attack-dog, and I think he did a pretty good job of that. And I didn't know anything about either coming into the debate. I thought they both came across as turds. And Pence lied his ass off (of course, what else could he do?)

^^^ if trump's unabashed lying hasn't swayed an undecided at this point, i really don't think pence lying will make a difference. facts just don't matter in american politics, appearance matters.

pence looked poised and presidential, and kaine didn't (he did nail the clinton thumb point though). kaine's problem was presentation, not content.

i also don't think either will make a difference, but pence had a much better performance. i think pence's performance might sway the opinion of someone considering trump who is worried that trump doesn't act presidential. i'm not sure what demographic kaine might sway, trump's lies have been called out many times already.
