I haven't been following this season but will try to catch the ACCT/NCAAT. What needs to happen for us to make it to the NCAAT? What's the minimum we need to win here or are we already in?

I think we are in, unless we lose both to BC and UNC, then probably square on the bubble. Would likely have to win the ACCT or at least make championship game to host, but could be wrong.

Lots of players regressed this year: Evan Mendoza, Brock Deatherage, Shane Shepard (.188 BA Jesus), Cody Beckman, Evan Braband all seemed to get worse this year.

Brad Debo was awesome, Bienlien shows a lot of promise, Will Wilson were surprises. Piedmonte put it all together (6-0 1.88 ERA) but somehow didn't get All ACC??? Cory Wilder had a wasted season only throwing 11 innings.

^Brian Brown also took a while to get going after he was injured to start the year.

But yeah, Deatherage and Mendoza taking steps back really hurt us on offense -- and Dunand was very average until the last month of the year. Even with guys like Debo and McClain getting it done, our offense never seemed to have much momentum until the past month or so.

At least it's not Louisville. As long as we don't have to face UNC's ace, JB Bukauskas, I think we can hang. We're a better team than we were when we played them a few weeks ago.

^^ I'd say that's unlikely. Since we are playing Tuesday UNC will know if their game against BC game means anything as far as them advancing past pool play. If we win, the UNC/BC really doesn't matter, so why throw your ace and if BC beats us we can't advance out of pool play.

I don't follow enough college baseball outside of state so I don't know if we could do better, but this season was a disappointment given our talent.

I also get annoyed that he has a history of overmanaging close games.

i'm sure there will be some hot takes from people who start paying attention this week for the first time. But as a whole, it was another Avent team that started slow and made a late season surge. and another NC State team that started ranked only to fall on their face early and drop out of the polls. But Avent's job is not in jeopardy.

Yes. The only way we can advance is to go 2-0. The unc - bc game is completely not necessary since we won. Doesn't matter what happens at all

I guess it makes a little sense as it rewards teams for a better regular season. But yeah, seems like they could change it to 3 team single elimination with the top seed getting a bye. Isn't that the same result?
