Croatia definitely deserved it on balance of play. England were the best I have ever seen them in the first 45 min IMO. Admire the effort and this was hands down the most likeable team England has had in decades. Croatia showed their class in the second half. Perisic and Rebic were insane and I honestly can’t believe where they found that extra gear. They wanted it more and they got it.

That said I am proud as fuck. What a World Cup we’ve had. People will say it was the easy side, they’ll say England finally met its completion and they will say England was lucky. These same people would have crucified England had they lost to Colombia or Sweden. These same people are probably out writing articles about England’s spirit.

I am happy in retrospect. It hurt to be so close and not make it but England hasn’t been on this stage since 1990. Hope is what we had after 6 minutes and hope is what makes you a football fan. What counts isn’t hope, it the grit and tenacity to play to the final whistle. I can’t fault this England team for giving it their all till the end. Honestly thought I would never say that.
