I can’t fathom being so confident/wrong and still going the extra mile to post how wrong I am

Lue vastly overachieved given the circumstances

there is no argument otherwise

Nah. The Pels aren't a good team at all. Missing the playoffs with a team that went to WCF last is absolutely underachieving.

You LA/Lebron apologists are something else...

You do realize that the team that made the WCF last year had Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and this year's team didn't? Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum are better than Reggie Jackson and Norman Powell.

the Pelicans were Top 10 in both offense and defense since the All Star Break/adding McCollum

The Pelicans will probably get swept by Phoenix, but OK.

You're right guys. The Lakers slightly underachieved, but it's not Lebron's fault. And the Clips slightly overachieved by losing two games in a row and not even making the playoffs.

:ok:

I had no idea!!! Totally explains everything!!! Kinda like how the Warriors lost 4/5 staters when they lost to the Raptors in 6 3 years ago, amirite?!?

But I also I know that good coaches (especially ones that are supposedly the best in the NBA) know how to make adjustments and actually beat teams that have losing records to make their way in the playoffs, as opposed to blowing 4th quarter leads.

Weird straw man/red herring, but Kerr is definitely a better coach and he has the hardware to prove it.

Huh? What am I wrong about here again? I never made the claim that Lue was one of the best coaches in the league, Tree did. All I did was point out that losing two winnable play-in games belies the argument, yet here you are arguing what exactly again?

Let's not even get into the disaster that was the Lakers season which you have been eerily quiet about, despite being one of the biggest Lebron apologists on this board. I mean I wouldn't say much either because you have no valid defense of his shitty micromanagement decisions that totally failed from the jump. How many coaches has he gotten fired during his career? I think they "Lebron has never had any help and has to carry the team" argument died a long ass time ago, but maybe you still want to die on that hill, for the same reasons you make excuses for Kanye

I'm sorry you're a fan of players and not teams, because all the old ass players from the 00s (minus Iggy!) you stan for aren't going to be in the actual post season. Too bad about Tiger too, man!

Lue is one of the best coaches in the league because he coached his team that played without their best player for the entire season and missed their second best player for more than half of the season to a winning record

he lost tonight because Paul George was unable to play, against a team who has been good since they acquired an All Star in CJ McCollum

Dig through my posts, but where was I making the claim that Kerr was one of the best coaches in the league last year, based on his ability to coach the Ws to the first year of the play in (at least they had a winning record and were 39-33) Also, last year's Warriors team was pretty damn bad, and they weren't coming off a WCF appearance-- it was a total rebuild year with Klay being out.

I get y'all are bored since no Bobcats in the playoffs (nor Lebron, no Russ, no PG3, etc), but I'm not going to waste my time arguing about Lue being a great coach when he just lost two very winnable games.

He's no Frank Vogel!?

Dude, you made the claim Lue was one of the best coaches in the league, not me. I am fully aware that injuries happen-- acutely so given 2016 and 2019.

Quote :
"In all seriousness, this Ws team has given me a fair amount of joy considering how shitty the world is currently. I know they've had a soft SOS up until now, but I can see them making a deep playoff run or even winning another title if they can continue to play unselfishly on offense (they don't lose if they have 30+ assists) and lockdown D. Same basic blueprint for the 2015/2016 teams that were so dominant without KD, but injuries and trades happen, so I'm not going to get overly excited until the Spring."

In any event, Lue's team just lost two very winnable games against teams with far less playoff success when it counted most. Clearly you don't wanna walk it back, so I guess just keep on thinking he's an elite coach. He's free to prove me wrong next year when he gets an MVP player and one of the best two way players in the game to return.

Pels took a game 2 on the road?! Guess that series is OVER!

I'd love nothing more than to face MN next round and NOLA in the WCF to have home court throughout the playoffs, making it a much easier path to the Finals. Which path do the Clippers have again? Oh right-- didn't even get past the play-in. Guess Ty Lue can do it from the couch playing NBA 22k

Curry scoring 36 pts in 22 mins should be much more worthy of discussion, but yeah, let's talk about LA some more. Do you think Lebron will get his wish and hire Mark Jackson !?!?

^I def think Boston would be a tough match up and they're the team I'd want to face the least in the Finals , but so would Miami, Milwaukee, Brooklyn (would be an EPIC series), and even Philly.

I'm not at all expecting a chip this year for muh dubs, personally. A WCF appearance would be very satisfying and even making the Finals would be vastly overachieving. I've said before that I'm afraid of Memphis because I don't like that matchup for the Ws at all, so hoping that series with the Wolves goes 7 and that the Ws can finish off Denver early and rest.

This is the first year in a long time where so many teams have a legit shot at the title, and that's good for basketball and fans.

Where in my post did I say they weren't good? I think the Celtics have the best defense and height advantage, making them the least desirable Finals opponent for the Ws, but the Nets (assuming they get past Boston) could beat them because they have freaking KD and Kyrie. The Bucks have Giannis and are defending champs. Sorry that I ranked them 4th and that it hurt your feelings so much.

1. I'd take him over Lue without thinking twice.
2. I think he's probably a top 5-10 coach, overall. He inhereted an absolutely loaded roster and coached a dynasty of a team to 5 straight finals, but I wouldn't call his coaching all that great when the team is completely depleted and he's too stubborn/conservative to alter rotations or make adjustments.
3. I hate the Clippers, so I was happy to see them get bounced. I don't think Ty Lue is one of the worst coaches in the league or anything, but I'm not getting all the hype and his results for THIS SEASON in particular-- especially with a roster that has lots of talent/playoff experience (and yeah, injuries suck) that didn't even make the playin.

Yes, I could easily search it... but i really enjoy conversing with you guys!

I know it's "faith", but I find it quite silly that a professional athlete would fast all day (food and water) before playing a [playoff] game. Really seems like it would affect his game (and yes, I know some have done it in the past, including Kareem & Hakeem)

I also questioned someone's Christian faith on Easter Sunday. But they were stuffing themselves with ham instead of fasting. Just seems that it would be hard to perform at the highest level after not eating/drinking all day (yes, I know he had a good Game 1). I also question the faith of flat-earthers.

I don't think fasting from sunrise to sunset is all that wild. And it's not like the Nets were playing a day game so he couldn't even drink water during a whole game. The game was what, a 7:00 start time (probably later than that due to TV) and sunset was officially at like 7:30ish so he only had like 20 minutes to deal with.

Kenny Smith was saying that Olajuwon played better when he was fasting, and attributed it to being able to focus more on the game, as you weren't focused on what you were eating for your next meal.

Religion is silly and can be dangerous, regardless of the flavor. Just because successful people are religious doesn't make it any less silly. I doubt you'd be this upset if this was about Russel Wilson or Tim Tebow's faith. And Kyrie was kook before his conversion.

not gonna judge anyone for honestly observing whatever religion they want to observe, as long as it doesn’t affect anyone who doesn’t observe

people made the same argument you made against Ali, and that dude stuck to it for 50+ years

you named two athletes who proselytize, which is completely different from athletes observing religious holidays
