As much as you hate it, I think it may be time to step up into the league of excessive power to weight ratios and go with a 1000cc beast (A Ducati Streetfighter perhaps? ). That will ensure escape.
It's kind of hilarious to think that my bike probably puts down over 60% more horsepower to the wheel than my car does btw. 8/29/2009 10:15:48 AM |

if a GSX-R 750 isn't enough power, then power isn't your problem.
and yeah, when I had my 750, I had a 4cyl Wrangler, so my bike made more power than my truck did. 8/29/2009 10:17:27 AM |

I was mostly kidding, since I know you have this hatred for anything that is faster than you think it needs to be, although I think you'd probably enjoy a Ducati Streetfighter more than you might want to admit. God dammit I know I would. That thing is going to be mine at some point. In the meantime I'll have to "make due" with this geared ZX-10R son.
I was looking at this place called Carpenter Race Engines and they sell a ported head and cam package for the ZX-10R that adds about 25hp. They have two more packages that also do bottom end work to get it to 205hp and 215hp respectively. I might snag that head/cam package at some point down the line honestly. With that package, an extended swingarm and a good tire their ZX-10R ran an 8.62@162mph.
It's not that I really care about drag racing or anything, I just enjoy vicious acceleration.
Right now mine should easily run a mid 9 at well into the 150mph range with a good rider. It's got a -1 front sprocket and a +2 rear that the previous owner installed, so it's just plain stupid in terms of acceleration obviously. I plan to go to a stock sized front sprocket and stay with a +2 rear when I do replace the chain and sprockets though because it doesn't need to be quite this short IMO. If I get that head/cam package I'd just go back to stock sized front and rear sprockets since I'd be adding about 25hp to the already ridiculous power level. They also offer packages for the ZX-12 and ZX-14 (Not a fan of these really), the Hayabusa (Not a fan of this really) and the GSX-R1000 (I am a pretty big fan of this one).

^you must have missed where he said the previous owner installed the sprockets, and that he planned to switch it back to at least a stock front. also, he's made it clear in the past he doesn't really care about the "twisties" much, just straight line acceleration.

I don't get it. I mean, I really don't understand this statement. "Engine work is just to brag about how big your penis is...."
Some of you idiots need to note that I never, EVER, even said this head thing was a definite plan (In fact, I don't think I even mentioned that it was even possibly a plan, it really seems like I just mentioned that it existed). Just because I bring up something doesn't mean I think it's the coolest thing in the world or that I have to have it or that I think it is some definite plan. Unless you see me say that shit, assume I'm just babbling about something that is excessive and interesting to look at, just like that LSx swap for the Miata.
What the fuck else is a newer 1000cc sport bike other than excessive btw?! That seems to be the entire point of the thing folks. ]8/29/2009 7:07:18 PM |

I'm sure once you start asking you'll find out that it "should" make 700whp after you "fix a couple things."

^&^^they're not legal for DE's or AutoX, or probably any speed competition/track event. You need a helmet rated for automobiles. A motorcycle helmet is only designed for one large impact, i.e. when you're thrown from the bike and hit the ground/car/tree, etc. If you roll/flip a car you'll be bouncing off the interior several times. Thus, an automotive racing helmet is designed differently and is stronger...and costs more.
A decent one is $200+. I'll probably pick up a mid-range price one within the next year. Can't go cheap on the head protection! 9/21/2009 2:18:47 PM |
