Minecraft Pocket Edition is out on Android Market.

I gave it a spin. As I expected, the functionality has been dramatically cut to put it on a phone; it's basically creative mode with less blocks. I will say that I was impressed by some clever control tweaks they did (like auto jump). I won't be playing it much, but it may be a neat way to introduce people to the game.

Got 1.8 and experienced an error where the screen goes black (monitor turns off) and my computer becomes unresponsive as soon as i get from the menu into the game.

Upgraded my video card drivers and same thing happens.

Upgraded to Minecraft 1.9 and the same thing happens.

Looked on google for forum posts and people dont seem to know why this is happening.

Any ideas??

have you tried deleting minecraft.jar and then running it? It will have to redownload it, should be like a fresh install to 1.0? Only thing I can think of unless you have some mods installed

minecraft.jar will be in C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Application Data\.minecraft\bin

You'll have to edit folder settings in the "username" folder to show hidden folders to get into Application Data

the shaders seem to be coming along. no texture pack is 100% support bump mapping yet but they are close if you use Sphax or Balea.

Holy fuck.

Trying to beat minecraft is so tedious and annoying. I spent like 5 hours gathering ender pearls (endermen are one of the rarer mobs... and they don't always drop pearls) and "The End" is just not fun.

Is pocket edition different than minecraft mobile? I tried the demo for mobile and it is completely unplayable. It is impossible to fathom how they could actually charge money for something so nonfunctional.

I have a nice sandcastle going on tww server. However, the front door is a mess thx to a creeper.


Also, I was trying to lure/capture chickens and ended up far away from my base, got lost, it got dark and I ended up created just a column of dirt so I could see over everything to try to find my way.... I looked down at an Enderman and he kicked me off my column to my death. Lost iron armor, basic equipment, wheat, 10 fish, and 5 chickens
