let me spew some more

1. State wont got after Pearl. Not happening. Valvano, or at least the perceived nature of his program, is still around too much, they will go clean.
2. Related to #1, It wont be that hard to get someone more qualified as Lowe as a COACH (not player), they dont need to make a big splash and get Pearl or someone with any taint of controversy.
3. Pearl will be clean as a whistle after this, he lied about a BBQ, he didnt pay players, he didnt alter grades, he didnt overlook shoes for profit. I bet he will never get another major violation as a coach ever, IF he is given a chance somewhere. I see him sitting out for a year, then getting on somewhere out west for a year or so, and then coming back east.

Buzz Williams is interesting, but Marquette isn't exactly a backwater. Chicago is a short drive away for recruiting. You can win titles there.

^My thoughts exactly...Lane Kiffin is a bad example. He cheats and has nothing to show for it. Pete Carroll on the other hand....

But as for bball coaches, I'm liking Buzz Williams as well. Not sure how likely he is to leave Marquette...but I'd take him over pretty much any of the mid-major names being thrown around (besides Brad Stevens). And some of the non mid-majors as well (Mick Cronin).

VCU played good defense against USC and Georgetown because those are shitty teams. They played bad defense against Purude, but their offense was unstoppable.

Asshole coaches have won recent national titles/world championships in almost every major sport

K, Saban, Belichick, Guillen, Popovich, etc

Nice guys like Rivers, Francona, and Tomlin can win it too, but at the college level, I'd rather have an authority figure than someone who's buddy buddy

from what I can tell, it's mostly the older fan base that wants Barnes. I guess they're still thinking of the Barnes that they wanted so bad 5 years ago? Smaller sample size but judging from twitter/TWW/people I know, the younger fan base prefers Miller or somebody else younger

I wouldn't be disappointed with Barnes but I think there are better options
