2 drake sarth down last week in 10 man and 25 man.
Trying 25 man 3 drake tonight. I'm raid leader, so trying to come up with good strat.
Does this work?
As soon as T drops, burn the shit outta him (bloodlust and cooldowns popped) Have him down and AoE all adds (whelps and fire eles) before S drops. Work on S. Have tank pick up V when he drops. Kill S Kill V Kill S's acolyte Kill V's acolyte. Kill Sarth.
I know there's more to it like positioning, but is that a good overall strat? I'll have my DK tank Sarth, my warrior tank three drakes and pally tank all adds.

There is a good video on TankSpot with a nice soundtrack. This fight really isn't that hard*, just complicated. Granted people have to stop getting tunnel vision and dying to stupid things hence why we have only gotten the first two drakes and acolytes down. Sadly, with the color change to void zones anyone who actually does Sarth+3 for the first time now will be said it was only because of nerfed content.
*hard being completely relative because I know the tanks have to be hating life. 2/10/2009 2:27:14 PM |

the fight is a gear check for people's computers. that shit lagged me out so bad that I had to turn off names, spell detail to 0, and lower my resolution. the red void zones on the red ground was just plain stupid in the first place. when you're in melee surround by some blue dogs, DS spam, and a shit load of cows, sometimes you legitmately cannot see them. there's a lot of RNG that makes the fight suck too, like void zones spawning in the gap of the waves or coming out of the portal at the same time as a wave. just have a select few (1 per raid roll) be vocal on vent. also I'd leave the rogues outside to dps the 2nd and 3rd drake while acolytes go down. they can help with enraged fire guys too 2/10/2009 4:18:05 PM |

Anyone been getting lag for the past couple of weeks? I live up in VA now, near Norfolk, but I've read lots of reports of players getting lag in the Raleigh area. Chapel Hill and Wilmington are other areas affected.

It's been nerfed content ever since they changed it so you couldn't get hit by lava walls and fissures the instant you ported upstairs.
Using the strat you posted will need the use of tank and non-tank cooldowns (guardian spirit, pain suppression, hand of sacrifice, etc) for the Sartharion tank to survive while Vesperon's Acolyte is up while Shadron is still alive. That is the dangerous time when all fire multipliers are up and Sartharion's breath will be hitting for 225% damage (something like 45k).2/12/2009 9:07:11 AM |

I am not sure if it is a bug but you can still get rocked by lava walls. The idea of being able to even be hit by these in the first place when you come out is just dumb to begin with because you can not control where you will be spit back out. About the only thing you can do is time when you would kill an acolyte to coincide with when a lava wall passed by.2/12/2009 3:58:00 PM |

I don't see how coordinating over vent when to come out of the Twilight Realm is too much to ask. We did it for weeks without a problem. I just picked it back up after a 2.5 year hiatus. If you have a friend on a server, it's not bad. Almost all of the classic stuff is dead, though, so expect to miss out on a lot of the original content. But there is absolutely no competition for resources. I'm in the first expansion's content now, haven't moved into the latest. 2/12/2009 8:55:48 PM |

13.8g for me. The thing about the old content is that it is old and should be dead, for the most part. Cool stuff like old raids or classic instances won't be available to you until ~60 anyway. Not having competition in the zone you're in can be a good thing, allowing you to get quests done faster and in turn level quickly, not to mention the resources available to gather/sell. On the other hand, group quests can be a bitch if you can't find anyone nearby to help, and you'll most likely struggle to find groups for instances. None of that really matters though since you will be able to tear through the majority of the other quests.
If you end up getting the game and you are not sure where to create a character, my guild will help you out/answer questions you may have. PM me for details. 2/13/2009 7:34:59 AM |

can you kill people in the middle of the town yet? do they have a server for that yet?

They got rid of the Dishonorable Kill bullshit a long time ago, and you can kill anything in a town that you want if you can survive the guards/other high-level players.
The high-end pvp is arena-based with a matching system now, with battlegrounds sort of just being a side thing. I really haven't done much besides world pvp, though, ever since they reset my honor to zero and gave me absolutely nothing for it besides a meaningless rank title right before BC came out. Assholes. 2/15/2009 3:04:14 PM |
Quinn All American 16417 Posts user info edit post |
so if you swing at someone standing in line for the auction house a pc controlled guard will come in and kill you?
have they mentioned releasing/starting a server without that? I know in DAoC they eventually did it. I think the main towns were still safe zones though.
Horde can kill horde right? 2/15/2009 4:56:19 PM |

You can't expect to go into a city alone and start killing without being killed by the NPC guards (assuming the mass-enemy-players ignore you)... the whole point of them is to be raid-targets (they've even introduced "killed enemy NPC city boss" achievements). If you bring 20-40 people with you, though, the NPC guards won't be able to do shit. If one person could walk in and just kill whatever low-level players they wanted, it wouldn't really be much of a city.
You can wreck the shit out of most non-level-80 towns alone now, though. And it only takes a few people to wreck a level 80 town, assuming there aren't level 80 players fighting them.
Blizz does seem to realize that they were going super-gestapo-mode on world pvp, and that they shouldn't do that. For example, there used to be invisible, elite, stealth-seeing archers that spawned on the roofs in Orgrimmar, and the city guards there were immune to vanish, and ect... I don't know if they're still there since I don't play my rogue anymore, but I'd expect them to have been taken out since Blizz is trying to bring more freedom and accessibility into world pvp. It could be argued by some people who got used to gestapo-mode that it's a little too easy now, but I'd much rather it be too easy than go back to the era of DHKs on Civilians.
Horde can't kill horde, except in arena matchups. ...Why would they be able to do that anyway? (except of course for that old quest chain which people used to fail on purpose, which they got rid of... though blizz is obviously trying to take pvp in a better direction since then, but I doubt they'll remember it to bring it back)

They can't implement same faction pvp because they really have no real world pvp concept in wow. Wintergrasp is a huge joke because there still really is no point to it and tenacity is terribly unbalanced. They'd have to rework the entire pvp model as well as social structure of the game- introducing player alliances and such- as well as rework a lot of zones to be able to accommodate open pvp.
For a company that still has a coop designed guild control UI, thats a huge stretch. 2/16/2009 5:29:50 PM |

So my guild has failed two nights of raiding 3D 25m Sarth.
I guess our DPS blows because our first night was full of deaths to voids/waves, but last night, we probably only had 5 deaths to these in 14 tries.
Our strat was... Pull Sarth back to our starting location Pop BL on first drake AoE adds DPS 2nd drake go in gate and kill acolytes DPS 3rd drake go in gate and kill acolyte Kill Sarth
We had DK tank him and he could eat 1 to 2 big breaths and had a priest/pally healing him and the priest would cast divine spirit on him when needed. We had another priest ready to cast again once the DK ran out of CDs, but we never really got to that point.
Suggestions? Plz to not flame... I'm startin to get pissed at this.

you can do that or do portals after the first drake goes down. just make sure to kill the acolytes as soon as you get the portal open emote. that way you maximize the time you have to dps between acolyte spawns 2/19/2009 2:28:55 PM |

My suggestion is you go to elitistjerks.com and read the entire 3Drake sarth thread there.
http://elitistjerks.com/f15/t39610-sartharion_company_3_drakes_discussion/
This thread pretty much has a strategy for every kind of group makeup you can possess.
Also, tank cooldown rotation should be:
DK cooldowns Paladin hand of sacrifice Paladin Hand of sacrifice Pain Suppression Divine Spirit
That buys you about minute.

We got 3d down for the first time this week (even though we have all of the server first titles, lolz).
Anyways, our biggest problem had been dps and losing ppl early.
We fixed the stupid people issue by getting new, better ppl that could move when a glowy death trap spawned under them.
Second fix was our strat:
First Drake: Used haste pots and own cooldowns to burn him quick (was usually sub 10% when 2nd drake lands). AOE adds after first drake dies. Bloodlust 2nd Drake, burn him quick. Enter portal and kill adds after 2nd drake dies. Dps 3rd drake and enter portals when needed to kill adds (only 1 or 2 more times max).
Heres our WWS of our first kill for comparison.
http://wowwebstats.com/r22kui3dd2ql3?s=200743-276521
I won our first drake drop also, against one of the mages in a rolloff, I rolled a 91.....she rolled a ...... 1....yeah she was pissed.
Honestly we should have killed him months ago (our first few attempts we had 3rd drake 50% a few times) but then people started getting frustrated and we took alot of time off to just farm content. Getting back in there and focusing was a big hurdle. 2/20/2009 12:55:50 AM |
