Of course, Creighton isn't good enough to play in the same tournament as Carolina. You've got to earn the right to meet them on the court.

This comes from a draft projection article that was posted on IC, but I know they eat this shit up:
Quote :
"Kendall Marshall, point guard, North Carolina. More a passing point in the old school sort, which means not the explosiveness of the top guards of today. But classy passing and ballhandling without much offense."

What is classy passing?

"Deconstructing the memes of a North Carolina loss

By Joe Ovies

High profile North Carolina losses are typically followed by an airing of grievances aimed directly at Roy Williams. If you believe the angered masses, the winner of two NCAA Championships and six ACC regular season titles suddenly can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

The source of this current iteration is Yahoo! Sports columnist Pat Forde, who boldly proclaimed Kansas' Bill Self out-coached Williams in Sunday's NCAA Regional Final.

Forde isn't wrong in his assertion. Self was savvy enough to recognize the Tar Heels were limited without Kendall Marshall on the court and he threw a junk defense at North Carolina to exploit it. But Forde took it a step further based on an answer by Williams about the triangle-and-two defense, which he takes at face value.

“I know they did for one possession, and they may have for another possession,” Williams said. “I’m not sure about that.”

Everybody will be quick to point out Kansas actually ran a triangle-and-two for more than just a handful of possessions, which makes Williams' answer somewhat confusing. However, Williams has been known to downplay post-game press conference answers to specific in-game situations. It doesn't get noticed as much as his hyperbole fueled analogies to suicide or Haiti, but it happens.

Perhaps Williams wasn't really interested in talking about the last 8 minutes against Kanas because of the hand he had been dealt following Marshall's broken wrist. The detractors want to make this about Williams' failure to adjust, but explain how the Tar Heels were supposed to do that with Justin Watts and Stilman White? It is what it is, and North Carolina still had multiple opportunities to take the lead despite Williams being an idiot in eyes of pundits and angry fans.

Harrison Barnes missed a long, but wide open long 3-point attempt with 7:54 left in the game. Reggie Bullock had a similar look that failed to go down with 7:05 to go. Barnes missed a dunk, but Zeller managed to put it back and get the Heels within 68-66 with 5:43 on the clock. Watts fails to notice John Henson open in transition and wound up settling for a missed 3-pointer with 5:06 left in the game. Barnes gets to the free throw line with a chance to tie the game with 3:58 to go, but only makes 1 of 2. Barnes drove and missed again with 2:34 to go, with Zeller failing to grab a contested rebound.

All opportunities, all missed.

To Kansas' credit, they made good defensive plays down the stretch. Withey blocked Watts and made White pay for his decision to drive late in the game. His block on Henson, while questionable with no call, was a game changer. Despite all the stops, the Jayhawks left the door open for the Heels without any points of their own until they finally closed out the game with a 12 point run.

The need to blame the coach is understandable, but it's often misplaced. North Carolina's exit goes back to a single factor -- Kendall Marshall. Self doesn't throw junk on the court if Marshall is out there running point. That's why I'm nonplussed about the this "out-coached" thing. Bash Williams all you'd like, but simple props to Self for identifying an opponent's weakness will suffice.

Corchiani eventually removed the sticker."

Roy Williams really ISN'T that great of a coach, only a great "recruiter (obviously Kansas and UNC recruit themselves)

I mean UNC still had 6 McD AA in the rotation, while from what I understand Kansas had none. (I didn't fact check, went with what I was told)

Latest on NBA Decisions
Multiple sources report that Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Kendall Marshall have met with Roy Williams and intend to enter the NBA Draft. Barring a last minute change of heart, a press release is expected soon. The initial intel immediately following UNCs NCAA Tournament run pointed strongly to James Michael McAdoo returning for his sophomore season, but while the information concerning Barnes, Henson and Marshall has been straightforward, the intel surrounding McAdoo's situation has become incredibly fluid in the last couple days.

prolly good for him because he did nothing impressive when he was thrown into the line up at the end of the season.

I am a huge reggie bullock fan though. To me, he is one of the best people on their team and everybody else is just another overhyped burger boy.

this is just how roy williams rolls. he'll be in the second round next year w/ a bunch of freshmen, in the elite eight the year after and barring mass injury will win another national title w/in the next four years.

just like he did w/ the hansbrough class and would have done w/ the zeller class, except everyone got hurt thank god.

McAdoo had what, two or three good games? And the only one of them against decent competition wasn't even good enough to win it for his team.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/56967/james-michael-mcadoo

Looks like his career high is 17 points against the 16 seed Vermont.

That's worked out super well for Marvin Williams and Brandan Wright

Not blaming the players for coming out early, blaming the teams drafting them that highly.
