TOB losing to BC on the road makes me feel way better about no conference wins since 2012. Just what I need guys. Mike Archer's defense was just pathetic. We are on to greener pastures now.

LOL that Ach-owned, Tenuta, and TOB are all on UVA's staff now and they have a pretty stout defense this year. NC State shit right there.

We're willing to see what he can do. That Clemson team is going to destroy everyone the rest of the year, too. You don't build a program in one year and you don't build a program by firing your coach every 2 or 3.

Just chill the fuck out for a couple more seasons and see what happens."

agreed with everything here. Can't believe how catty & impatient some of you bitches are being in here.

Yeah, I distinctly remember thinking oh no, it's 3 down and 17. It's a given they'll pick up the first.

Do our opponents even make it to the 3rd down these days?

I think some of you bozos are shifting your distaste for TOB and translating that to undying support for Doeren.

That's fine if you want to give the guy time. He deserves that much. But he's got to show SOMETHING. And that starts this week, as far as I'm concerned. I'm perfectly willing to ignore last season if he can get 2 or 3 conference wins the rest of the season (which is going to be difficult, I imagine).

But most of his supporters are letting their hate of TOB (I always read TOB as Tobi. With an I. And an accent over the I. Sometimes with a heart or a smiley face or something in place of the accent, you know, just to brighten up a person's day) as an excuse to dismiss some serious criticism of Doeren.

Now, a lot of people want to look at what he did at NIU as support for their optimism. That's fine, I guess. But look at what he accomplished there in two years, and honestly ask yourself how much of that he deserves credit for.

We have a young coach. He's still cutting his teeth here at State. He may or may not be BIG TIME. That's the reality. He only coached 26 games at NIU. He's coached 18 games here at State so far. Just think about that for a second.

It's very fucking possible that we hired a coach that moved up the ranks too fast. Yes, he deserves patience, but this is Power 5 football. He doesn't get the benefit of training wheels anymore.

I haven't seen too much "undying" support or "optimism". I see people supporting our current coach 1.25 years into his tenure from irrational whiners. It's as if you're making up shit so you can continue to argue. But since your opening statement was bogus, the rest of your post was TL;DR

Dude, your self appointed Hall Monitor position is getting a little tiring.

I'm not whining. Just merely saying, "Hm...this coach may not make it. I hope he does, but it's debatable" That's it. The fact that you consider any type of criticism as whining is ironic, as that's pretty much all you've done in this thread for weeks. You sound like the oldest child trying to calm down mommy and daddy while they argue about the electric bill. Just shut up and go to your room if you're that uncomfortable out here. Jesus.

Your little above the fray, preachy kumbaya, zen-master bullshit is really getting exhausting.

I think this is a fair post.

That said, I agree with Bullet ^^^. I really haven't seen many folks giving DD their undying support. I think one poster said he had a "hunch" he might wind up being good....if that's what you're calling undying support, then sure. But I think the pretty common theme here is that Doeren needs to be given time before people start calling for his head. The jury is still very much out on DD. Like I've said before, it's completely fair to criticize him. But calling for his job at this point his extreme.

^^^ I just think you're going overboard a bit. I didn't even really dislike TOB. I generally supported him until the last year or two where you could tell he didn't give a fuck, didn't put enough effort into recruiting, and continued to give us shitty O-lines.

And we only have NIU and his assistant coaching stints to give us any type of hope...so that's what we have to latch on to (he was the D-coord at Wisconsin when they went to the Rose Bowl). And while DD didn't recruit Lynch, Lynch was unproven and barely played under the previous coach.

And I just don't think any coach would have done anything with our team last year. TOB MIGHT have won a game or two with Pete Thomas running his offense...but that's definitely not a given. Last year's team was a dumpster fire. This year's team is basically last year's team with a year of experience and a pretty good QB. So I'm not expecting them to be world beaters, but like you, 3 ACC wins would be fine...anything else, icing on the cake.

And we're a middle of the road team in a mediocre power conference. All we're ever going to get is Assistant Coaches from major programs or up and coming coaches from mid-major programs. Unless we get lucky, we're always going to have a guy that has to learn on the job a bit...that's just reality. But I like the way the offense looks (Clemson game obviously withstanding) and hopefully he can get the defense on track (might have to get rid of Huxtable). And if we get the guys that we "lead" for, I think we'll have a pretty good recruiting class to build on this year (not in terms of rankings, because it's a small class). And last year's was pretty good considering the situation.

I'm normally pretty pessimistic. But even I can't be doom and gloom after 1.25 seasons. Lighten up Francis.

Let us not forget that JesusHChrist has been douching up this thread with his bitching for a long time now. His habits include endless strawmen arguments and trolling about TOB, both of which he's done on this very page.

Don't agree with your stance, but that's an A+ troll post.

If we'd gone for DD's appointment just 7 days later, we would have lost him to Wisky.

Here is one thing I never see people considering. The moment we do get a great coach who manages to do anything of note with our program he will be gone and onto better things anyways. Does anyone believe if we managed to win the division next year or something that Doeren wouldnt be gone to Wisconsin soon enough once they keep losing to the Northwesterns of the world?

It is damed if you do damned if you don't for our program so why dont we all just get used to .500 football and try to enjoy it?

I would like to think we could at least match salaries. I feel like our big donors would pony up to keep a big coach if ever got an ACC championship.

Of course that's never going to stop someone from going to their dream school. But it might keep a decent one.

^ lol Wisconsin and State linked together forever now.

Seriously though, TOB hate and DD support are not mutually exclusive. TOB left DD with a bunch of shit players and DD is doing the best he can to get something out of them. He may fail in trying, but he's got my support for at least the rest of this season and half of next.

While I agree with what you're saying and do think that state would be a stepping stone for a coach who did great things here...Wisconsin is one of the worst paid jobs for the amount of pressure you face. Hence why Bielema went to Arkansas. So...I would be absolutely bewildered if he went back to Wisconsin.

Starting to climb on the fire him wagon. Losing at home to BC is shameful. We needed this fucking win to get a bowl game and extra practices. Instead we will now lose out except maybe Wake. Seems like we've regressed back to last season the past 2 games.

he lost my support today. it's one thing to get dominated by clemson in death valley. it's another to get handled by boston fucking college in your own house.

and the o-line is complete trash. can't stop a three man rush. in my opinion he's coaching for his job the rest of the season. if we continue to perform like this get rid of him.

^come on. the two aren't hand in hand. it's completely ok to say it was time for TOB to go (it was) but DD isn't the guy. It's not a matter of "what would TOB do with this team?". Because regardless of what DD does, firing TOB was the right call.

^^see, that's a completely fine stance to have. There's no use in saying "see?!? should've kept TOB!!!" because it was clear TOB wasn't the answer. Comparing the two is stupid. So far, DD has been bad...by any measuring stick. Doesn't make the TOB firing wrong.
