There have been tolerant, nice, whatever adjective white people for hundreds of years. There are also white people who are assholes for hundreds of years. You can make the same statement for any race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality you want. The fact that we're slowly making ratio more and more in favor of nice people as opposed to assholes is progress, not white/black/hispanic progress, but progress as a society as a whole.

Why not hope for America to keep producing more nice people, instead of just nice white people.

That there are entire countries full of white people, and many of those countries in economic ruin of the scale that Eastern NC can't even imagine? As far as being stopped and harassed, I will admit I blend in with the other white people pretty well, and nowadays I benefit from some of the benefits that white people inadvertently get just for being white. However, I did needlessly get harassed just a few weeks ago just for riding my bike in a middle of the road (when i was entitled to do so) by a black police officer in one of the whitest neighborhoods of my current city (sounds familiar?). The officer didn't shoot me. I don't know if it was due to my white privilege, or the fact that I didn't tell him to fuck off (as much as I wanted to) or reach for his gun, or the fact that I was not leaving a scene of a crime that I just committed. True story. I know it's hard to believe. I wish I had video evidence.

While you bitch about getting pull over in your car, it's because cops are stereotyping. Apparently, that is something you are OK with, as long as they are familiar with the stereotype in this case (in your case, a type of car and mods). They see the kind of a car that they most often find drugs and guns in, and they pull you over. When I used to have a lowered truck with tinted windows, I used to be pulled over for no reason too, and I have never been pulled over in my current station wagon with "baby on board" sticker. I think that's fucked up. But you apparently think stereotyping is OK in certain cases, so you have no reason to bitch about being stopped. Or just get a minivan, if you are so tired of it.

2. Insinuating that the PD, who plays a role in crowd control and player safety, might withdraw their protection.


Cause, you know....like....yeah....the first amendment is protecting free speech from government retaliation, so to speak. The PD isn't in danger of the Rams infringing on their free speech. Its the other wayaround. The Rams pplayers are in danger of the police (an agent of the govt.) infringing on their free speech.
And I'm very uncomfortable with a PD making veiled threats like this. Insinuating that if they don't get their way and the the support of the private citizens, then they will cease to do the jobs they are sworn to do.



If this is a 'clean' and PG version of the bullying and the police department engages in, there's no wonder the citizens have such contempt for their police department.
