I wonder what the rules are against having 2 different accounts. It would be nice to play on two different ones so I could have one I just made the most solid pick each day and another where I tried to pick as many as possible haha

i think you are supposed to only play with 1. i had two, one of which i haven't used in a while (and i see is now gone from the group). it was called "The Coin" and i just flipped a coin to make picks to see if I could do better that way. it was about the same.

i play on joie's name, but she used it for a while and still does occasionally. if i'm passing her computer and see she's not picked, i'll just pick the next one for her.

Yeah every month, someone has a crazy win streak to start.

I think basically what happens is that a bunch of people pick every single game possible. Assuming a 50/50 shot at getting it right, the odds of getting a W16 are (.5)^16, or about .0015%, or 1 out of every 65,536 people will make it to W16 using this method.

Granted, the odds of picking a game right are probably closer to 60-70%. If you assume 60% accuracy, your odds increase to 1 in 3,544, and if you assume 70% accuracy, you skyrocket to 1 in 301.

Yeah I think I have learned my lesson with Greek soccer.

Rodos, who was in 3rd place, and was fairly dominant in the league, was playing against Asteras, a team that sucked really bad and had not won a game since mid-December. Somehow, though, Asteras was a very heavy favorite. As most expected, Rodos was dominant in the first half (by all accounts) but they only led 3-2, and then a Rodos player was slapped with a yellow and red card. Rodos ended up playing the rest of the game with 10 players and lost 4-3.

I really don't know what was up with the game. The odds made no sense, so obviously the right move was to stay away. Asteras being favored over Rodos by the margin they were favored, was about the equivalent of Buffalo being favored over the Patriots by a touchdown or more. I think when lines are skewed so much in one direction there is something going on behind the scenes. Plus, getting two red cards (there was a second red card issued to Rodos towards the end) really seems fishy.

I think from now on I am just going to stick to the Premier League or country vs country when it comes to soccer if I have any sort of streak on the line.
