And yet it's not like we're Miami, Duke, or UVA either.
The odds are 3:1 against us closing out with 4 wins.

UVa has the strangest resume I've ever seen.
Losses to ODU, Delaware, Wake, Clemson and Ga Tech but a ridiculously high Pomeroy and decent record against Top 100.
Where did Lunardi have them? Can't be too many at-large bids with RPI in 70s can there be?

You have said this in at least 5 posts since Saturday. How exactly did you calculate your 3:1 odds? It's not like Vegas has made a line on NC State's next four games yet.
I think we are more like 4:1 odds to pull this off. Just looking at the games, we should be solid favorites against BC and Wake (~85%) since we are good at home and both BC/Wake are poor road teams. @GT, we should be 1-2 pt favorites (~55% odds), @FSU will depend on how they play their next 3 games, but at this point, we would be 2-3 pt favorites (~60% odds).
Just doing the math = .85*.85*.55*.60 = 0.24
So a 24% chance we pull off all three. Obviously if we win this weekend, the numbers start looking a little better. That @GT could decide our fucking season. Crazy...
Also if we win out and UNC loses to Duke, do we not hold a tie breaker over UNC??2/26/2013 9:25:06 AM |

^ In that case we win the tie break on UNC right? We both lost to Miami so we go to Duke. We went 1-1 vs Duke, UNC would be 0-2 vs Duke assuming they lose in Chapel Hill. 2/26/2013 9:54:15 AM |

20% would be 4:1. 2/26/2013 11:52:01 AM |

^^ Yeah I get you now. For some reason I was looking at 3:1 meaning 2:1 (i.e. 33% chance).
As for what I meant about @GT deciding our season, I think if we lose there, we probably lose @FSU too thus dropping to the wrong side of the bubble. I think a loss @GT would almost be a final nail in this disappointing season. Granted we win there and beat Wake & FSU and maybe we roll into the ACCT and NCAAT in fine fashion. That is why I meant that the @GT game was critical.
GT is no pushover at home and they gave us trouble when we played them in Raleigh. They have size in the middle which can be trouble for us. Vandy will likely have to play as well which is a huge negative. 2/26/2013 1:18:48 PM |

^^^ UF is an enigma. One game they thrash the shit out of a decent team in Arkansas and a few days later they lose to an average team in UT. I still think they'll be a Final Four team.
As for IU, they were due for an off game after all the tough games they've had recently. 2/27/2013 10:33:17 AM |

wrong, there really are no dominant teams this year.
I'd pick IU all the way though if I had to fill out a bracket today. Not dominant, but I think the best option to pick.2/27/2013 10:39:54 AM |
