valencia went down pretty easy but mascherano was pulling his arm behind his back, i dont think it's much of a stretch that he spun around like that. it was definitely a foul there's no denying that. it's a tough call for the referee though, because of where he fell.

no reason for torres to be a shit head like that though, im sure he saw the play really well from 40 yards down field .

yea i agree it was a dive, but i can understand why the ref messed up. i wouldn't have called it a pk but that's a tough call to make.

at first I was mad he didn't get help from his linesman

but on the replay (not in that video but on the one I was watching) you can see the assistant immediately flag and do the secret signal to the center that it was a penalty by putting your hand up to your chest

Actually, putting the hand to the chest means it was a yellow card offense. Holding the flag directly in front of your body is the signal for a penalty.

Yeah, I've worked with quite a few State/National refs that give that talk in their pregame


but I know they're not seriously going to look to me for a penalty or red card call. All they do is tell me I don't carry my flag straight enough when I'm running

Yeah, the only time I can ever really imagine that coming into play is if the keeper punts the ball and the ref ends up being like 50 yards out of position.

yeah or something off the ball happens behind their back but they'd come over and talk about it anyways so you don't need the hand motions

I spend so much time during games watching officials, I wonder how sweet it would be to have the headsets. And if you were reffing with some friends, you could talk shit about coaches/players
