The best situation for us, but also unlikely would be for us to get Josh Davis to come back, as well as get Djitte and Freeman. That would give us some solid frontcourt depth for next year.

it's already been mentioned that Louisville won't be exposing the ACC for another season, but Peyton Siva and almost surely Gorgui Dieng will be gone. losing their most consistent play maker and defensive anchor will be big losses. based on his decision making on the court, i expect Russ Smith to be gone, too. i'm surprised when any Pitino team doesn't at least make the Sweet 16, but i'd be shocked if they posed even a remote threat to repeat next year.

Macadoo sucked until they went small ball. Even then, he only put up good numbers against shitty teams.

His season was much more of a disappointment than CJL's.

Don't think we're recruiting him anymore, but I could be wrong.

If we get Davis, I think our front court depth will be just fine next year (assuming Warren plays at 4). We'd have Davis and Warren backed up by Anya and Washington -- Vandy for emergencies -- Jevonni for scrub time.

we need more frontcourt, so we can slide Warren over to the 3. not necessarily full-time 3, but we need to have that flexibility. as it stands now, Warren is going to be nearly full-time 4, which isn't our best option, and I don't think it will make him happy.

We'll definitely have rotations where Warren and Davis are playing the 4 and 5, but I think you're going to see Warren more at the 3, and then a rotation like we use to have with Leslie/Howell/Painter at the 4/5 with Davis getting most of the minutes and Washington/Anya sliding in as needed. Perhaps even some Vandy if he improves enough or if the freshman get in foul trouble.

Front-court depth is primarily a short-term issue for next year, which a project big man would not help. We have scholarships if we find a future stud, but it will not help next year. Only a juco or graduate transfer helps that. If Anya and Washington pan out we just need other complimentary players to develop behind them in 2014-2015.

Lack of frontcourt depth does spread our backcourt thin though, since we have plenty of guards in a 2 guard system, but we will likely see 3 guards or 3 guards + a wing for stretches next year to get our best talent on the court.

It's entirely possible we're better next year than this year. An 8 seed isn't that high of a bar. Much less talented teams have done it. We still need to land Davis or someone like that to have a chance, though.

Honestly we needed LESS scorers this year to keep everyone happy. So I'm not that concerned about losing Leslie and Howell's offense. But the rebounding is a big hole

My whole thinking is that the ACC will be better.

UNC should be was good or better (PJ is coming back and I believe Paige will improve greatly), Duke will be Duke, UVa will be stronger with more experience and losing Jontel, Syracuse and Notre Dame will be strong (Pitt will suck thankfully), etc

Lots of things need to sort themselves out though. Just be happy UL isn't here for another year or that'd be another spot.

Hey even if he can be like Withey it'd be great!

I've seen that said on here dozens of times in the last two years. Yeah, if he was like one of the more dominant interior players in the college game the last two seasons it WOULD be great. Shut up

Teams that will still probably suck:

GaTech
VaTech
BC
Clemson
Wake
Maryland (losing Len and Howard)

Georgia Tech could be decent, but I definitely wouldn't put them above us.

Teams in the middle:

Miami (could actually be in the "suck" group...especially if Larkin goes)
State
UVa
Notre Dame
Pitt
Florida State

Teams at the top:

Cuse
Duke
UNC (could move to the middle if they lose Hairston, Bullock, and/or don't get Wiggins)

I don't think we're that far away from the top. And to me, the top only consists of Duke and Cuse. UNC will only be head and shoulders above us if they keep everyone and land the top player in the country.

We just need to NOT underachieve again this year. Hopefully the team gels, because the talent is there.

I still don't understand how we fubared this season so bad. There has to be a reason other than CJ = Cancer1!

I think BC will be a middle of the pack team as they return everyone and Hanlan/Anderson make a solid 1-2 punch. GT has some talent and Maryland will probably be at least competitive since Howard was worthless and Len really was inconsistent.

I'd take Tarik Black...but if I had to choose I would take Josh Davis...he's a much better FT shooter and rebounder.

Black is probably more athletic but Josh is probably more like Richard Howell in his work down low.

^ Wonder why. You don't normally see guys do the graduate/transfer thing when they are at high major schools (#NCStateshitRusselWilsonlulz). I would consider Memphis pretty high as well. Wonder if there are some coach issues.

Would love to have Black. More frontcourt depth is needed.

^don't get me wrong...I'll take either one for sure...I think ucla high post is a great offense for forwards and both would do fine...you just know you'll get 100% effort w/ Josh Davis every day...not 100% sure on Black's effort....but a new team could get him motivated...

screw it...let's get both of them.

I say we take both because I don't know if either freshmen will be able to give us heavy minutes.

I like Washington's skills, but don't know if he's physically ready. I like Anya's size, but he's slow as fuck. Dude needs to drop about 30# before he can run up and down the court...especially how we like to run.

I know Warren can play the 4, but I would like most of his minutes to be at the three. If we could get Black and Davis...I see them both starting and then having good depth with Washington/Anya/Vandy...sprinkled in with some Warren at the 4.

Then again...there's no talk of us even contacting Black. Its just wishful thinking. The Davis talk...OTOH...is all pointing to us. So that's a good sign at least.

If Black is a 1 year guy then you take him no questions asked. We're aren't going to fill that spot anyways. Better to take him than go after a real project in a freshman that you could be bound to.

Hypothetically, if we somehow land Davis and Black, it would be awesome to redshirt Washington or Anya - even though that's probably unlikely - and let him put some muscle on/lose weight respectively.

We would have 2 senior forwards and 1 freshman back up and Vandy....Then we would have the Martin Twins coming in with a redshirt Freshman PF/C and a sophomore PF/C...we could do some major damage for a few years with a core of players like that.

Agreed with graduate transfer guys the worst that can happen is they dont pan out and you blew a scholarship on them for one year. Freshman projects can tie up scholarships for better guys down the road unless you are a scumbag like Calipari and just kick the shitty kids off the team.

Black apparently walked out of a practice this year and his minutes dwindled. Though I've also read he's a pretty good kid that let his emotions get out of hand one time.

Memphis is a absolutely a high major caliber program.

Memphis, the place to go if you want to win 30+ regular season games but lose in the first round of the tourney and occasionally make the 2nd round.

Giglio retweeted a Pitt account that said Davis was considering them. We aren't in the top 4 - it's Gonzaga, Pitt, Illinois, and Iowa St.

Pitt wood be a good fit for his style and they need him.

Would suck for us but I've said from the beginning it would be odd to see a player transfer back no matter the new regime. Hope I'm wrong.

If we landed Davis and Black(somehow), then Vandy might as well go ahead and transfer. We would likely start those 2 and work Anya/Washington in to get this some experience and help them adapt to the college game. Don't think we'd RS either, we'd rather feed them minutes and help get EXP since they'd both be expected to be MAJOR contributors next year since they'd be the only 2 big men on the roster.

I don't think Vandy is in the position to transfer. He's already used a redshirt year.

Let him just work his ass off in the offseason and try and get some solid minutes next year...or....just continue to suck off the free education and basketball gear teat and move on from there.

I'm sure we are very much in on Davis obviously but my guess is Pitt is as well. He isn't a shit-stirrer at all like some media guys.
