Word is that Gott has already gone to Tulane to visit Davis. Jamie Dixon has either already gone or is going to go soon. Also this weekend Freeman will visit, and Davis will visit next weekend. 4/12/2013 12:05:07 PM |

Heard that Watkins took another job and that was the pending issue with Davis, but that it likely wont be any problem but Watkins I guess was part of the team that recruited him and wanted him to still be here. 4/12/2013 1:02:28 PM |

Basically seems like Davis was a done deal with Watkins on the staff. Now I guess we're standing on even ground with Pitt etc...
Still seems like he's ours to lose still. Would you really not come to a school just because the assistant director of operations left? 4/12/2013 1:14:06 PM |

Also only in the land of midgets (tulane) would you ever list him at 6'8". Warren has more of an inside post game than Davis does. If we get Davis and Anya/ Washington are not able to be effective at the 5 be ready for a very disappointing season. We will get killed on the boards and dominated on the inside by just about everyone.

This is secondhand knowledge but ive independently verified it by thinking about it and realizing it makes sense.
Levi had been selling recruits on the quality of the food at the wolves den. Late Tuesday word got out with next years budget cuts the wolves den food will be a shell of its former self and theyll be keeping tight inventory on the extra sauce and condiments athletes have come to expect as perks.
At first glance it doesn't sound like a fatal blow but when you look at how quickly Levi hightailed it out of here as such a decorated and accomplished member of the wolfpack this doesn't bode well.
Expect gravis to weigh in shortly hes got a lot of connections in the food industry supply chain and you can believe he will be leveraging connections to make sure we stay in the running for Theo Pinson.
I dont wanna name names but Marcus Melvin is the guy behind the guy in a lot of this. Im told he had a lot to do with bringing Fanta to east campus due to its popularity in Europe when he was over there. 4/12/2013 4:48:41 PM |

Yes and did Leslie play the 5 for us? Nope. I was correcting the idiots that seem to think that Josh Davis is going to come in and play the 5. Now on to the next stupid statement. Marquette, refresh my memory do they run the UCLA high post? I am pretty sure that is a no. And one of their forwards (2nd leading scorer) is listed at 6'8" and 290 pounds so again NOTHING like Josh Davis.4/12/2013 6:53:32 PM |

i was thinking more like jae crowder who was their only "big" the year he won big east POY despite being like 6'6 and a SF in the nba
the plan has always been to have davis play the 4 and let the other 3 guys figure out how to hold down the "5"
also you should probably familiarize yourself with the ucla high post as well, since the 4 and 5 are pretty similar 4/12/2013 8:01:17 PM |

I think Davis can play big minutes for us at forward but relying on him to replace Howell is insane (which is what I originally posted) our break was designed around on Howell securing rebounds while basically everyone else leaked out for the break. We have to get production from Washington/ Anya/ Vandy (shudder) at the 5 or we are screwed. Josh Davis is not the solution for a departing Howell. 4/12/2013 8:19:35 PM |
Prawn Star All American 7643 Posts user info edit post |
Or we could put less emphasis on the break and have everyone help out with rebounding. Which is just common sense anyway considering that Lewis will be our point guard, and he is better in the half-court than in transition.
As many have said, this is college, not the pros. We don't "need" a true center out there. Gottfried will put the 5 best players on the court and adjust his scheme accordingly. 4/12/2013 8:27:38 PM |

You're always best off playing with an optimal lineup in basketball. It's easier to make up for a lack of size than a lack of talent. 4/12/2013 8:32:58 PM |

Quote : | "Or we could put less emphasis on the break and have everyone help out with rebounding." | Or we could start running the princeton offense . The reality is abandoning the offense you are trying to instill in a program in year 3 is not something that you should do. Anya and Washington being chained in the weight room all summer long is a good idea. We will need them to play the 5. Davis at 6'7" (NBAdraft, NCAA all list him has 6'7" only tulane tries to pretend something else)215lbs is not capable of playing that role for us.4/13/2013 9:26:38 AM |
