I just got the DVDs today.

I was watching the commentary of the first episode, and right in the middle of the episode, they stop and show footage of how the special effects were done. Turns out that the commentary is not only a different audio track, it's a whole different video track too.

That's pretty cool.

I bought the DVD on tuesday and i re-watched the entire season. just finished last night. I hadnt seen the last 10 episodes or so.

I sure am glad I didnt have to wait all summer

Its not a government site nor is it purgatory.

Its going to be hard to explain it without some kind of fantastic element to it.

The 'monster' isnt mechanical, it was that cloud, and it appeared that it was destroyed when they threw the explosive at it because it blew out of the hole and dissipated right in front of them.

I doubt its nano technology because the sounds dont match up.

I havent watched the extras yet or the preview for season 2. I want to know if Charlie took the heroin

Just finished the first season last night and watched some of the bonus stuff. The audition tapes and the "before they were lost" stuff was kinda cool. Seeing Charlie and Hurley audition for Sawyer's part was by far the oddest ones.

It suprised me to see the changes that they made to the pilot like the whole Jack dying halfway through the first episode. That would have pissed me off too and I don't think I would be as drawn to the show as I am. Kate is good and all, but I don't see her character as being the leading type, especially when her whole premise is to keep running away.

As for season 2 there was a big thing on Lost in the Entertainment Weekly (I do believe) and it gave some insight into who does what in the next season. The producers did say that they'd be slowing down the pace some so as not to burn out plot lines. The good news is that we will find out what is in the hatch in the first episode but it will only lead to more questions.
