Not a DSLR, but the photoshopping was mad fun. All were bought in SC, a friend of mine set them off last Saturday.
Holy crap, just spotted the house in this one that they were setting them off in front of. It's bottom-center.
All were resaved as gifs with a black transparency and put back together, it only worked because of the solid black sky.
This was also my first time doing them, I had about fifty tries. Great job, Gunzz, I wish I could have used my own tripod. My Kodak had to think each time I took one, and they were sending 'em off way too frequently to get 'em all. Here's to getting a faster camera.

Not sure if this will help anyone or not... there is a slickdeal for a Canon Rebel XT listed for $700 that can be had at $370 after a price match from sears. It's somewhat hit and miss but I was thinking of attempting it tomorrow morning.

Hey guys, not sure if I'll get many responses on this, but I've been having trouble shooting in the dark and would like to upgrade to a DSLR.
Which make/model would be perfect for low-light focusing, in your opinon?
No arguing here, just opinions, please!
Perfect example of my dilemma (click "all sizes" at the top for bigger version)
On a point-and-shoot Kodak Z740, used a 2" exposure + flash, and edited curves, then a semi-transparent gaussian blur vignette.] 7/31/2007 4:19:18 AM |

^ The canon XTI has the best signal to noise ratio of any camera in the sub $1000 domain IIRC. A high signal to noise ratio helps when shooting in low light. For low light situations you'll need to crank up your ISO setting and a camera with a good signal to noise ratio will allow you to do that while minimising grain and hot pixels.
Frankly, the biggest thing that helps in low-light is a good lens. A 77mm filter sized lens with a low minimum f-stop is essential for any kind of low-light color phtography. If this kind of low-light photography is something that you're going to do a lot, you'll need to learn to effectively use a bounce flash for fill lighting and you'll need to be ready to drop $texas on a good lens.

Has anyone ever had a sensor degrade on them?
The noise in my pictures just keeps getting worse. It's to the point now that I can't make prints with anything I shoot, and if I've zoomed in much, you can even see the noise online.
I've got a Canon S3 IS I got June of last year.
I had noticed this, and figured it was fault on my end, and then my mom asked me to make sure I got all the really important pictures in duplicate with someone else's camera, because prints from mine are useless more often than not. (She scrapbooks a lot). She suggested my sensor is going bad. 8/8/2007 5:40:28 PM |

Getting a Nikon D80 next month, I'm so excited! And my aunt's bf let me borrow his D70 for their engagement session, that was mad fun!
We just came back from CA, took some pics at Malibu but most were of family. I think I'm going to post some airplane pics pretty soon here, the clouds were doing some funky shit Saturday.
I lucked out with a pretty clean window, and corrected the dullness with contrast to bring out the land/cloud highlights. The wing is annoying as hell because I keep feeling like I want to slap it out of the way, but I couldn't resist keeping it because of the way the clouds were practically rolling and boiling up to where the sun hit them. My personal challenge here was to work the wing into the photo tastefully somehow so it didn't look touristy.
Lotta contrast in this one. Probably doesn't work well.
