^ Don't be acting like storms are scary son.

"WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP TO
OUR WEST AND MOVE INTO CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA LATE THIS
AFTERNOON... CONTINUING INTO THE NIGHT. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY
PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS OVER 60 MPH. LARGE HAIL AROUND ONE INCH IN
DIAMETER IS ALSO POSSIBLE. THE HIGHEST RISK OF STRONG TO SEVERE
STORMS WILL BE BETWEEN 3 PM AND 10 PM IN THE WESTERN PIEDMONT
INCLUDING THE TRIAD REGION AND ALBEMARLE... BETWEEN 6 PM AND 1 AM
IN THE TRIANGLE REGION... AND BETWEEN 8 PM AND 4 AM IN THE COASTAL
PLAIN INCLUDING ROCKY MOUNT AND FAYETTEVILLE. LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL... WITH RATES OF ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR... ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT."

The severity of that one cell seems to be growing as it nears the NC border. Looking forward to a VERY strong storm. Wouldn't mind mild power loss, but keeping damage to a minimum is cool.

Just so we understand the severity of what lies to our west son:

Take a moment to absorb the size of that Tornado watch area.

The band in western TN has intensified greatly, it's now a much more developed, unified band. A ridiculously potent piece of work, if you will. You do NOT want to fuck with that thing, you probably couldn't win even with a large bowie knife.

The band has become a tornado producer now. LOOK AT THAT NORTHERN EDGE OF THE BAND!

I rarely see violet in the storm, there is part of that embedded cell that is one step below white, which is the absolute maximum that the radar can display.

http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/southeast.php

Three separate tornadoes are currently indicated in this band!

TORNADOES MAY HIT EARLY IN THE MORNING IN SOME AREAS OF NC TOMORROW SONS. THERE ISN'T A HUGE CHANCE, BUT IT MAY HAPPEN SON. THE NWS TYPES LIKE I DO, SO BEAR WITH US SON.

Quote :
"...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LATE TONIGHT AND
SUNDAY OVER OUR REGION...

A WARM FRONT OVER NORTH CAROLINA WILL LEAD TO PERIODS OF RAIN AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE REGION THIS
EVENING. A STRONGER LINE OR BAND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MAY
MOVE EAST ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS INTO NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA
OVERNIGHT. IT APPEARS THAT THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE MUCH
LESS EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS AS THIS LINE MOVES INTO THE REGION.
HOWEVER... IF THE LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS HOLDS TOGETHER LONGER THAN
ANTICIPATED... A FEW OF THE STORMS MAY CONTINUE TO BE STRONG ENOUGH
TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS MAINLY OVER THE WESTERN AND SOUTHERN
PIEDMONT REGION INTO THE SANDHILLS BETWEEN 100 AND 500 AM. AN
ISOLATED TORNADO IS POSSIBLE DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF THE WARM FRONT
OVER THE REGION.

FOR SUNDAY... IT APPEARS THAT THE SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL
BE ONGOING OVER THE EASTERN PIEDMONT INTO THE SANDHILLS AND COASTAL
PLAIN IF THE LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS REMAINS IN TACT. THERE IS A
POSSIBILITY OF STRENGTHENING OF THE LINE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS BETWEEN 500 AND 800 AM DUE TO THE INCREASING SOUTHERLY
FLOW AND MOISTURE AS THE LINE APPROACHES THE COASTAL PLAIN AROUND
DAYBREAK. AN ISOLATED TORNADO WILL BE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE WARM FRONT
OVER THE REGION. ONCE THE LINE PUSHES EAST BY AROUND MID MORNING...
THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL DIMINISH.

THERE WILL BE ANOTHER SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED SEVERE WEATHER ON
SUNDAY AFTERNOON AS ADDITIONAL SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED
TO REDEVELOP. THE MAIN THREAT ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY
EVENING WILL BE ISOLATED LARGE HAIL AND POSSIBLY DAMAGING WINDS. THE
SEVERE THREAT WILL RAPIDLY DIMINISH BY EARLY SUNDAY EVENING."

^ You should own a flashlight, and a good one at that. I suggest a 4Sevens Preon 2 son! You get a SHITLOAD of power, very good battery life and it only uses 2 AAA's! I'm pretty big into flashlights, these use very high tech LED's and their pricing is excellent. The short one is a Preon 1, the longer one is a Preon 2. I suggest the 2, it's like the size of a fat pen basically.

If you are just not cool enough for that, get a Streamlight Stylus Pro. I had one in red and gave it to the nugget.

The rain is almost here now. It will go through the night pretty much.

i did have a small LED flashlight that was tiny and it gave off a LOT of light. but i don't know what happened to it. it was too small so i lost it i think maybe it is under my bed. but it also might take AAA batteries which i definitely don't have. i only have AA

sadness.

so do i need to sleep in my closet tonight or what? i don't want a tornado to come at like 3am and not know about it.

Update

Quote :
"TONIGHT: CONVECTIVE COVERAGE AND INTENSITY SHOULD THEN INCREASE
DURING THE OVERNIGHT... WITH THE ARRIVAL OF A 40-50 KT LLJ
DOWNSTREAM OF AN UPPER IMPULSE CENTERED NEAR DEL RIO TX AT 18Z AND
BENEATH CONTINUED UPPER DIVERGENCE IN THE AFOREMENTIONED STJ EXIT
REGION. LOW LEVEL THETA-E ADVECTION IN A BREEZY SOUTHWEST LOW LEVEL
FLOW SHOULD PARTIALLY OFFSET OTHERWISE MARGINAL... NEARLY MOIST
ADIABATIC DEEP LAYER LAPSE RATES.. AND CONTRIBUTE TO UP TO SEVERAL
HUNDRED J/KG MLCAPE AND 500-1000 J/KG OF MUCAPE BETWEEN 06-12Z.
FORECAST SOUNDINGS SUGGEST CONVECTION SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY ELEVATED
WITH JUST ENOUGH NEAR SURFACE-PARCEL CIN... HOWEVER... WHICH WOULD
TEND TO LIMIT MOST OF THE SEVERE THREAT. NONETHELESS... THE ARRIVAL
OF THE LLJ AMIDST STRONG MID-UPPER WIND FIELDS WILL CREATE FAVORABLY
LONG AND SLIGHTLY CURVED HODOGRAPHS TO SUPPORT A CONDITIONAL TORNADO
AND DMGG WIND THREAT WITH ANY SUSTAINED UPDRAFTS ROOTED IN THE
SURFACE LAYER. THOUGH AGAIN... AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS INFLOW
PARCELS MAY INDEED REMAIN SLIGHTLY ELEVATED AND MITIGATE THAT
THREAT.
TEMPERATURES QUITE MILD GIVEN THE BREEZY SOUTHWEST WIND...
WITH GENERALLY LOWER TO MIDDLE 60S EXPECTED.

SUNDAY: GIVEN THE AFOREMENTIONED FORCING AND DESTABILIZATION... A
BAND OR BANDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS -- PERHAPS IN THE FORM OF
SYNOPTIC SCALE QLCS -- SHOULD BE ONGOING AND SPREADING EAST ACROSS
CENTRAL NC EARLY SUNDAY. THE CONVECTION SHOULD BECOME INCREASINGLY
NEAR SURFACE-BASED WITH EARLY DAY DIABATIC HEATING AND CONTINUED LOW
LEVEL THETA-E ADVECTION AS IT PROGRESSES EASTWARD WITH THE LLJ
THROUGH THE I-95 CORRIDOR/COASTAL PLAIN THROUGH MIDDAY. ACCORDINGLY
EXPECT THE SEVERE THREAT (PRIMARILY DMGG WIND AND TORNADO THREAT) TO
INCREASE AFTER SUNRISE... THOUGH IT WILL LIKELY BE LIMITED
TEMPORALLY IN CENTRAL NC BY THE MIDDAY DEPARTURE INTO
EAST-NEIGHBORING WFO CWA/S.
DEPENDING ON THE EXACT TIMING OF THE
LINE AND ATTENDANT SURFACE COLD POOL... SOME PRE-COLD POOL DISCRETE
(HIGHER PROBABILITY OF SEVERE) DEVELOPMENT IS ALSO POSSIBLE."

Get up early basically.
