Okay, so I think sawahash said you also grew up or at some time lived in Newport, which me and Sawahash have been slowly covering in threads and through PM.

So my question to you is--did you live in Newport, or the Newport-Morehead-Beaufort parts of Carteret County? Any reason you were there specifically? Any reason you left? Any good memories of the place? Bad? WOULD YOU EVER RETURN? Maybe it was Havelock--which is nearly just as bad (I ran a fireworks tent across from the DQ this summer).

I was born in Morehead City, lived there for a little bit then moved to Havelock for a few years then to Newport from the time I was like 4-10. I think my parents just liked the location better and we found a nice house that they could fix up and add onto. We moved back to Havelock for reasons I would rather not go into over a message board. I have very good memories of it, and I miss my old house all the time (especially our big dogwood tree, house, and pond that was down the street). Plenty of bad memories there, but not so much where I hate the place. I don't think I would ever go back mainly because the types of hospitals I want to work at aren't in that location (and I will most likely be working at a university's hospital). Maybe when I'm really old I'll move to Morehead City for retirement.

Carteret General Hospital not a very good hospital?

Where in Newport did you live? I ask because while my address is in Newport, I was more or less in Morehead (I live on the long street of HWY 24 between 9 Mile Road and the Cypress Bay Plaza (the place with the Wal-Mart. =D ). My mom has taught at Newport Elementary School for 31 years and my dad is a local radio host / minister.

Anyway.

I haven't been in the actual town of Newport much--I went to their Food Lion every now and then when leaving Havelock over the summer, but never into the heart of that... tiny place. No one I knew ever had to go farther than the post office besides my mother. Morehead has EXPLODED though, the place is just HUGE now compared to even 5 years ago.

Last year we had a group get a ticket for Sono and the Oxford... It was only $10 if you ate at one of the two places so we ate at Sono then spent the rest of the night at the Oxford and walked outside to watch the acorn drop. It was a lot of fun (until they lost my debit card).
