It is unfathomable to me that we hired Sidney Lowe and didn't even interview a guy everyone knew would be a star young coach. And one we would likely only lose should the Pitt position come open.

Yes, he was young then and didn't have a track record but he wad coming off of two solid seasons at Xavier already and we hired someone with even less of a track record.

I guess there is no sense crying over spilled milk but Jesus..

fwiw i'd prefer mooney at richmond to shaka at vcu, offense be damned. seems more like a program builder than flavor of the week. i'd still put him well behind the dream, 99% not happening guys like stevens, miller, etc and behind the possible doable guys like turgeon, and probably behind a guy like gregg marshall but yeah mooney seems solid.

he's sitting on 29 wins for the 2010-2011 season

I'd like Mooney to come here but I have a feeling we're going to fuck around chasing dream coaches and GT or whoever is going to snatch him up.

Actually, we probably already have fucked around too long chasing Barnes, Miller, etc. Considering that Mooney, Smart, etc. are probably gone by Sunday I'm sure other schools have reached out and made agreements already. I think Yow is the right person to make a good hire but she really painted herself in a corner by explicitly stating that we were going to get a big dog when realistically we just can't pull 'em right now.

sid lowe was an NBA SCRUB. we need someone with real nba big time business experience. the nba is fulla guys with years of experience playing and promoting since they arent stopped fro merchandizing and having endorsements like colleges are stopped from doing by the ncaa. boost the program up by getting past that. get that money rollin in. get that areana to be a NBA arena. get some guys that are on the way to the NBA. get the hype rollin and blow the roof off the joint!
