Wouldn't mind having both, both Uchebo isn't a priority in my eyes. "

... freeman certainly isn't a priority, given that he committed.

Did I mention that at all?

But, that is great news! Are we still on the Martin twins' radar? Would love to get them.

^^Not sure. I can't find anything but this article http://college-basketball.si.com/2013/04/23/angel-rodriguezs-transfer-creates-a-number-of-questions/

^Yeah I think he is Javi's cousin and is from Puerto Rico.

Yeah I have no desire to have javi gonzalez's cousin.

God those Costner/Fells/Gonzalez teams were the worst. If I wasn't a lifelong state fan, I would not have cheered for them. Ugh.

remember we have Des Lee coming in from JUCO, with only 2 years to play

you must be thinking of prep school / military academy

You wouldn't want a good player if he was distantly related to a former player

At this point we have enough depth for next year. If you can add Josh Davis, that would be great, but I wouldn't want to overpursue/overcommit to spring signers (who look more attractive as the field thins out). We have a lot of young talent and if we have too many bodies we're just asking for in-fighting for minutes and lack of chemistry which leads to transfers and hurts our ability with future recruiting classes. With the Martin twins coming in 2014, we're already looking pretty set with regards to the front line. I'm not sure where Uchebo would fit given he has 3 years left. If anything, we should probably focus on shooters/small forwards...

Guards
Lewis/3 yrs; Barber/2-4 yrs; Lee/2 yrs

Wings
Warren/1 yr; Turner/2 yrs

Bigs
Anya/3-4 yrs; Washington/3-4 yrs; Freeman/4 yrs; Vandenburg/1 yr (mercifully no more)

What? This is what the Martin twins are man. They don't play front line. They are both wings.

Just went back and looked, you're right. I don't know why I remembered them being 6'8" with mostly inside games. On second look they are listed 6'5"-6'7" and they do appear to be slashers/scorers. So good, that's what we're lacking if Warren leaves after next year.

I still don't think we need another big guy in this class unless it's a one/two year guy.

^ They committed early and still have some time to grow, they could get up o the 6-8+.

but from the highlight videos they have solid frame and can bulk up. they bring a nice mix as one is more of an outside score and the other scores/plays more down low.

^That's good ol' Davie County for you.

As good as they look, the competition in the W-S area isn't all that great except for Reynolds and some of the specialty schools (Quality Education, W-S Prep). Pretty glad they're transferring to Oak Hill next year to learn to play on a loaded team.

Also, it's interesting that Davie choose to play one of the twins (Caleb) on the wing and the other (Cody) in the post this year. Caleb ended up averaging 20 points and 5 assists and won NWNC player of the year. Cody averaged 16 points and 9 boards.

And FWIW, an April article in the WS Journal said both twins are 6'6.

I was good with not really pushing for Uchebo too hard. We've got 3 young post players coming in that all can do different things in the post, never really felt like he'd make a big enough difference to justify going after another big in the '13 class.

Uchebo was definitely a better prospect than Freeman, unless his knee is completely wrecked. Dude was a top-100 recruit a few years ago and put up great numbers as a freshman in JUCO.

That said, maybe we never had a chance with him this time around. He didn't visit us this spring, as far as I know.

Black is a top ten talent who is recovering from an ankle injury and just started his AAU season with the powerful Team Thad program.

Would love to see one more player on the roster for next season... Whether it be a transfer that sits, juco, or 1 year grad(don't think we need to use a scholly on an incoming freshman). That would get us back to a somewhat balanced and more stable roster and then a normal recruiting cycle from there.

he's one of the best players to come out of high school in years, i see no reason not to put updates in here. it's better than creating a separate thread.
