My wife and I watched the pilot episode of lost about a week ago on netflix...

here's something i was contemplating... the episode is titled "pilot"... now the obvious reason is that it was the first episode, but maybe it's called pilot because they actually find the pilot of the plane??? (the fat mind reading cop from 'Heros') (spelling intentional)

That still doesn't defend the fact they had no idea how to resolve/tie together anything to end the series.

If someone is asking me what I want on my LOST sandwich, they dont start with one slice of bread, slap on a variable amount of mystery meat, and then replace the last slice of bread with a steamy turd.

it kind of does, at least a little bit. they resolved as much as they could without making the show entirely about all the weird island stuff, which was always supposed to take a backseat to the characters anyway. i don't think the ending was perfect by any means, but i think they did alright with what they had to work with. if people were mad because they didn't find out where the hippo statue came from, well, sorry.

sounds like this is your problem. you didn't get what you wanted out of it. i didn't either with a couple plot points, but it wasn't a bad show. flawed? sure. but it was enjoyable and resulted in some good conversation.

i enjoyed Lost during its run. It had its flaws, quite a bit of them, but for one hour each week I enjoyed going back to the island. And the Sawyer/Juliet vending machine scene in the finale. keep pulling on my heartstrings, Lost!

No, I didn't watch it. However, my roommate watched it religiously so I got to hear about how great it was and how clever. Occasionally I would sit down and watch a couple of minutes of it and point out some of the many stupid things that happened each episode.

It didn't take much to see that it was a poorly constructed show.

I'm sure I missed plenty. Basically you found out who the episode was centered around and read their rules then tried to remember most of the general ones. A good Hurley episode "Dude" or Michael episode "Where's my son??!!" could fuck you up bad.
