One thing I didn't like about SA was how you started to think you were a bad ass with all the OG stuff and action and then they dumped you in the middle of nowhere and the game sucked for a little while.

Just overclocked my HTPC from 2.4 to 3.0, and my video card quite a bit. Runs smoother now. ~30fps on medium settings on our HDTV.

I mean you can argue in favor of GTA4 if you wanted but I preferred SA easily.

GTA4 had better writing and prettier graphics, but SA was much better in pretty much every other aspect. hell, GTA4 took more stuff OUT of the game than it added in. gone were rampages, chainsaws, flame throwers, tanks, etc that made the previous ones more fun to dick around in

it felt like other than a few small things, there wasn't much shit to do on the side in GTA4. they even killed the shit out of flying

GTA:3 didn't have flying...and there was just a little of it in Vice City...but it did have rampages and the Rhino

yeah, there was the shit ass dodo that wasn't fully implemented, but it was a bitch and a half to fly for more than a few seconds (hell, it was hard to just take off in the thing)...it wasn't like the helicopters and planes in VC and SA

They took a lot out for GTAIV but I think it was needed. They got back to the grit that made the original so bad ass. The missions were insane, the stations were the best ever, the overall feel to the game just felt dead on. You felt like you were doing some criminal shit.

Part of the appeal of the past few games was loading up on ammo cheats going on hour-long rampages when you got bored. With GTAIV I cared more about playing the actual game or finding extras, and that hook is a huge improvement to the series, especially when you have online games to provide plenty of ridiculous shit to have fun with.

I hope they keep going this direction with future games. Let Saints Row keep up the over-the-top game play (get Saints Row 2 if you haven't yet).

I hear ya. I'll just add that no matter what you're going to get bored with the story missions after a while. You can only play them but so much before they get old. At least the rampages in the older versions were entertaining enough to extend the life of the game a bit. I didn't have that experience in GTAIV. I pretty much stopped playing it they day I beat it.

The online aspect does help to extend gameplay, but I've experienced that with prior versions of GTA.

So I still haven't gotten this, but I'm gonna buy it sometime this week.

Question: is the PS3 version inferior in any way to the 360 version? My normal inclination would just be to buy it for 360, but my paltry 20 gb hard drive is completely full. With the DLC and what have you it'd be better in the long run to have it on my PS3, I think. Is there anything better about the 360 version than the PS3 version?

how do they incorporate into GTA 4? Are listed like seperate games on the menu or do they just start once the original GTA4 campaign is over? Do they overrwrite any saves/garages from the original?
