I don't usually get grossed out by foul smelling microwave meals, but today was some exception. Whatever nasty rotten fish/shit combo someone cooked today made me (and the rest of the office) nauseous, I could smell it in the stairwell coming back from lunch!

Members of the public thinking that North Carolina State University = State of North Carolina

"What do you mean, you don't have a state government directory? No, I can google that just fine...and I'll have to, since you won't help me!"

Don't think I've ever dealt with SAP, but my annoyance is having 20 different apps to do everything - where each app has its own password that you're forced to change every 30 days. You have to have a strong password with capital letters and numbers, and you can't repeat old passwords. The result is you have to keep a separate spreadsheet file just to keep all your passwords straight.

I bet half of the service calls that go into our help desk involve resetting passwords.

Well I just e-mailed my boss to tell him that I need the next 2 Saturdays off. (not tomorrow, but the 2 following). He sends me back this shitty e-mail talking about how I have been taking a lot of Saturdays off lately, and he "hopes this isn't becoming a trend".

To which I responded that I am currently the top sales rep in NC, and #12 in the country. I work 6 days a week, always come in early, always stay late, never call in sick. I add that he should expect employees to want a Saturday off every now and then, especially in the summer, and that it shouldn't be an issue considering I have a part-timer to cover my shifts.

No response yet. I will let you know.

I mention to my coworker (who sits 5 feet from me) that I'm getting chinese food for lunch.

Homegirl about 6 desks over hears me and says really loudly, "You gettin' chinese for lunch? I'ma have you get me some!"

Homegirl is so loud that one of the traders and the weather guy hear her, and immediately send me an email asking if I can pick them up some lunch when I go.

The girl sitting on the opposite side of the coworker I initially spoke to hears the exchange between myself and Homegirl, and pipes up that she too would like me to get her some lunch.

The girl I initially spoke to now chimes in with her order.

........
........
........
........
........

And I spend 45 minutes at the fucking chinese place placing 8 lunch orders and bringing back 3 bags of chinese food BY MYSELF.

no shit. and we have a part-timer that is available the whole weekend. but my boss feels that he needs "experienced sales people" here on saturdays, so he only uses the PTE for Sundays.

find a job you're better qualified for (because those jobs likely don't require saturdays)

a royal pain in the ass. It's basically an accounting(accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, etc), project managment and invoice routing software package. It's good when it works but shit 90% of the time .

So further proof of the bitch that is Timberline. Moved it to the new exchange server and tried to install Document Management which is an invoice routing and approval plugin. Well it completely destroyed IIS so now now emails can be received outside of the office. doh

I like how management, office staff, my own employer, and the mechanical team all agree the wait staff stomp all over me, bully me, and put me down. But watching me cross a moving train a dozen times with heavy, delicate, pricey equipment on an empty run ("Dead Head Move") while sitting around chatting is beyond me.

this new IT guy has got to go. he is constantly looking for ways to have a conversation. as in, a conversation totally unrelated to work. he is way too chatty. a question about one of our shared drives turned into a 10min conversation about how he wants to come up with a manual so he can better track the things my group uses on a daily basis, thus making him better able to help us out...blah blah blah STOP TALKING TO ME blah blah

Found out via an HR insider that all of the administrative assistants at my company start out making $42k per year. This seems very high for a job that requires no education.

^^Buck told me the same thing this weekend about his admin people making bank. Which is nuts, since the Administrative Assistant in my office (who has been doing this kind of work her whole life) is like mid-to-late 50s right now and making around $33k - and that's after being with the company almost 4 years.

Oh, hey Lucy....get me a job as an admin and I'll force Buck to move us down to FL and he can go work for OUC.

^^ You're hired!

^ I'll see what I can do. Please note, however, that my company has another round of layoffs in October. I'm currently refreshing my resume.

Perhaps ours are compensated more because they're technically executive assistants who also support the executive's entire department.

^^ Worst case scenario, I have a lot of free time in which to finish my novel.

^ And we could be bums together. And con rich couples into letting us freeload and house sit.

That girl that comes in to work at 8:30, unprepared to begin working. I believe if you are supposed to work starting at 8:30am, you show up early enough to get your shit together so you can START WORKING AT 8 FUCKING THIRTY. And stop going to the damn restroom every 30 minutes. NO YOU DON'T HAVE A URINARY DISFUNCTION, YOU DRINK LIKE AT LEAST 8 CUPS OF FUCKING COFFEE A DAY. GET SOME REST YOU GRUMPY BITCH.

I think most people that go to work that early (say 8 or 8:30) do not actually begin their work the minute they step in. I know I don't. I check my gmail, or read the news for a little bit and then read my work email, and slowly get into the groove of work. I thought lots of people operated this way. Maybe not?!

My "work" schedule is 8:30-5:30. I get in usually between 8:00 and 8:15, usually because it's just me an my DM and we just chill, him reading his paper and me checking email, t-dub, and stuff. If there's some work I can get ahead in, I'll go ahead an do it. It's nice to get my head into the atmosphere and into the groove. I actually look forward to getting to work early every morning because it is the most peaceful time of the entire day... :/
