if i have the chase sapphire preferred since 2011 and want to upgrade to the reserve - will i be eligible for the full 100,000 points?

in my research, people have been told you must apply for the card, no product upgrades. But nobody really knows for sure until it's live.

Yeah, you never get the points for an upgrade.
If you're turned off by the $450 fee then you're doing it wrong.

I applied. Got instant approval. 4/24, 750+, 60-65K income. I called to confirm the sign up bonus and they said it was there. Very excited for this. I am going to transfer my CSP credit line to the CSR and cancel the preferred next month. I did try to do a product upgrade by the chase rep confirmed I wouldn't get the 100K bonus by doing that.

^^^^a month ago it was like 758 or something ("excellent", according to CreditKarma) and then I looked the other day and it was near 710, due to utilization (I nearly maxed out a new Victoria's secret card I had opened, and had made some large purchases on two other cards, $7000+ balance - that I will be paying off in full when due)

So I am definitely going to get the card, but want to make sure the timing is right so I can get the best possible financing offers with this car purchase

^^good call, will likely be buying tomorrow or Thurs.

Also, if anyone has a referral link or friend invite bonus email already, I'll definitely use it. (and if anyone ITT is planning on opening a Sapphire preferred card, I just got a 10k/friend offer)

I've never used my Chase points at Amazon because I always figured Chase points are worth more than $1/100 points, at least they were when I used to sell them to Bruce. Not sure about these days.

you guys and the chase are WAY too smart for me. I got the southwest bonus and the marriott bonus at the start of this year. Unfortunately I am 10/24 since I got my car, those two cards and half the others you guys promoted in the pages previous. But now I am stuck with the rule you explain, AND ANDDDDDDDDDDDDD, I added my mom on all without her having any inquiries and she is 0/24 and 700 but no cards but under me and they denied her even for the southwest card saying too many cards in a short period...so long story short, I took her off all my accounts. Once they dissapear what should I do for her? She essentially lets me use credit for travel as long as I pay so....advice and now I guess when it is time do this card instead?

Ugh pain in the ass. My credit report said 2 Chase cards opened on 9/1/2014. So I called on 9/2 and they said they were "technically" opened on 9/3 and 9/5 so I had to call back after 9/3. I just called and they now showed 3 cards in the last 24 months and got approved. Woot!

Got upgraded to a free two room suite with access to the executive lounge.
