many pics from Viriginia International Raceway== a few were taken with my Canon A540 so they are not the SLR, but most are
My SLR broke, but under Sears' replacement plan, they gave me a Rebel XT for a 300D!! 3 Years newer technology, 8mp v 6mp too. (The fact that I work there is not relevant, I had to buy the plan option, glad I did, same service for any joe customer)

I edit all my pictures to be 1920X1080 so I can display the perfectly on a 1080p samsung LCD that has a continuous slide-show function, thus the 'widescreen' cropping that I did for those
Can't wait to try out the Rebel XT with more resolution in the future at races; going to be a good 2008 for me and racetracks 10/14/2007 7:37:37 AM |

All taken with a D200. Some with flash, some not, variety of lenses from the Nikon 18-70, 50mm, and possibly one or two with the Tamron 18-250, I can't remember. These 3 weddings were a few weeks ago.

so i have a Canon Rebel XT, but im still new to photography. What's the best way for me to take some decent pictures in low lighting without it being blurry? i know it's tough with digital, but without a flash it's always blurry, with a flash it doesnt do anything for a bigger area. 10/15/2007 12:24:17 AM |

im sure that would help tremendously, but what about when it's moving subjects. For example i took pics during flag football, but they were either blurry or dark 10/15/2007 2:25:44 AM |

Unless you spend $$$$ on a fast lens, f/2.8 or better, you're gonna be stuck using a flash, and even then, action shots at night are still extremely hard to take photos of. My advice, find something easier in a better light situation to take photos of to learn photography on. 10/15/2007 2:31:42 AM |

I have a Canon bag I bought a couple of months back when I bought my Rebel camera (something I have since returned for financial reasons).
It is in 100% brand new shape, and I spent $45 on it. Obviously I have no use for it, so if anyone here wants it, make an offer.

I'm going to Chicago and Milwaukee in the next few weeks. Any suggestions on what, where to shoot? Besides the architecture of course.
I have the kit lens and the nifty fifty. What are some lenses you suggest for my canon xti? 10/26/2007 7:49:47 PM |
PhotogRob All American 2009 Posts user info edit post |
I would junk your kit lens and get an EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens and let that be your primary lens. If you need something telephoto, then pick up something like a 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. Lots of people in Chicago like to shoot the bean.

^ exactly the setup that I have for my XTi, except i'm going to go for the 70-200 F/4L for my telephoto, a bit better quality than the IS zoomer and not much more $$$.
although i'm really wanting to get the 50 F/1.4 as my primary lens 10/26/2007 10:55:37 PM |

Anyone have recommendations on a camera/laptop backpack?
I have been eying Crumpler and Lowepro but found there are other brands such as Kata and Tamrac. Which ones do you own or used and would recommend?
I tired the Lowepro CompuDaypack but it was kind of cheap and limited IMO. I was wondering if the Kata and Crumpler were worth their prices? 10/31/2007 10:11:32 AM |
