I still love the pinata aspects of this game (Treasure Bandit!), but I think what is really killing it is the idea that everything in an act drops the same loot, and even the best items can drop from Act 1. In Diablo 2, there were only 3-4 things that had a chance to drop the very best stuff IIRC (Baal, Pindle, Chaos guardians, Chest at the end of 'The Hole'), and it was pretty low at that.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to be pigeon-holed into doing 3-4 static runs, but there really should be some difference in what each enemy drops.

PvP should have a method for drops and gold as well. People should be able to solely PvP all day and still get gear and gold.

Anyone try these hacks?

Reported? Reporting makes no difference. Blizz doesn't care. And those hacks are bullshit, probably key loggers. I wouldn't use anything that injects anything in the game.

sheeps are going crazy over this 'MF Switching' issue on the d3 forums. don't really understand why people are flipping over something that ANYONE can do and is just a part of normal gameplay.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/3354739/

no doubt going to lead to yet another stat getting nerfed.

Yeah, i dont understand why everyone cares either. I think its normal to have different sets of gear for different things.

I would even expect the future of diablo to even have built in gear sets, like WoW does today.

The best solution is just do it like D2 did, and allow two set of armor to be equipped at once, and hotkey is 'w' to instantly switch between sets. WTF is Blizzard scared that they are giving you too much storage space if they do this?

lmao 6000+ posts in under an hour on the forums...

one mods response:
Quote :
""It's worth keeping in mind that if we do implement a method to alleviate gear-swapping in combat, we'll simultaneously be looking at ways for players to get an added MF bonus to compensate.

For example we implement one of the options and could... maybe buff up NV stacks with additional magic find, which could/would compensate for MF lost due to any solutions. We don't want anyone thinking we're trying to take their magic find away. We're trying to help alleviate some of the complaints about tedium and loss of inventory space while helping you keep the benefits.""

Yeah, this is only an issue for people that need two different sets to have high magic find.

I agree that the best solution is to simply make switching a part of the game's UI.

I disagree with gear swapping an entire set in the middle of a fight. MF should be an extra stat sprinkled around your gear. It shouldn't be one that you can just quick-swap. The current method heavily favors ranged. Its actually really easy as a WD. I Hex the last champ, put some DoTs up, then switch gear. One or two shots later its toast and I swap gear.

Weapon swap has so many other additional uses, though. I would like that.

It's true that Monks/Barbs have to go with 1 set of gear that balances all their stats and magic find nicely. It also costs millions to assemble, and that isn't fair. However, can't you just make a ranged character to gear your Monk/Barb? haha, that sounds so incredibly backwards... considering it was the exact opposite strategy in Diablo 2.

^^ Overall, this is a GAME and should be FUN, if people want to gear swap on the fly like you did in D2 that should be cool, so if they added it you are not REQUIRED to use it.

I think swapping gear, mid-fight, for MF purposes is bullshit and borders on exploit. I know it's not popular opinion, but I don't give a shit. You should be awarded loot based on what set of gear you needed to kill the pack, not what secondary MF set you haul around with you to slap on at the last second.

I accept your argument for Monks. Complaining about anything Barb related at this point in the game is ridiculous, though. If Blizzard arbitrarily stated that Barbs get absolutely no MF on gear anymore . . . Barbs would still be ahead of most classes.

And I guess I just don't understand the D2-use-a-melee-to-gear-up-ranged argument. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I would always start with a hydra Sorc and just do Mephisto runs. Takes no time to get to him, then you just pelt him offscreen with hydras (you would be far enough away to not aggro him). If you want to go faster and don't mind dying (until you get gear), open a TP first then teleport to him and static field him to a low percent.

the way the party system worked when it first came out slayed it. I bet it'd still be on the decline now,m but that decline would have been infinitely slower if you could actually play with friends the first 2 months of the game

With the number of copies sold of this game even if 75% quit there are still a ton of people playing.

^i was wondering the same. I've been playing with friends since the end of may. I'm still having a blast with the game. I've got a level 60 barb and a level 58 demon hunter. Nephalem valor and the drops you get with that have brought it up another notch for me. My friends are starting to wane a little bit, but I still enjoy playing solo sometimes.

massive amounts of people on the forum either giving up/quitting or sharing their concern about the seemingly flawed itemization system. i dont disagree with the complaints.. i mean how many people have actually rolled a worthwhile lv63/legendary item other than dzags? not saying im going to quit, i still enjoy the game but it is getting frustrating amidst the constant updates and AH downtime.

I get great ilevel 63 loot. Granted it takes sifting through a lot of shit, but so does the rest of the game. Even in A1, clearing most of the elite packs and the Halls + Butcher nets a few good pieces.

Legendary/set items suck right now comparatively. Blizz acknowledges this, and is patching/updating soon.

I'm had a couple set helms drop and some good legendaries, and maybe 5-6 low level legendaries. All my good legendaries were regular mob drops but I probably got lucky there.

However, I wear a MF/Stat system all the time, and feel like a giant tard because of the guaranteed yellows from elites and bosses. I assumed they knocked that crap off from D2 because it wasn't really 'fun', but I guess that was a dumb assumption. Thanks for making gaming the system mandatory.

Also could've saved millions having a shitty gear swap and probably +30% gear power without spending $TEXAS. So now I'm totally burned out on it

http://www.justd3.com/diablo-3-gamers-on-a-decline.html

Here's where I found it.

I still enjoy playing, but I have noticed a sharp drop in people playing. It's also kinda crappy that all I can do is farm act 2 and be relatively useless in act 3 with a bunch of DH/Wizards carrying me throughout the game, when I'm wearing 10m in gear.

Can't gauge the forum of blizzard as people quitting. People are quitting for sure, but that is probably the worst place to go as proof. If you only read the blizzard forum you'd never know this was the fastest selling game ever. Nobody posts on forums when they are happy so it is a horrible sample size. Would be like polling only democrats and saying that you think Obama will win the election.

I've got some good items, something sold today for me for 6 mil I don't even remember what it was. The more efficient you are farming the more items you'll get the more better items you'll find.

People don't want to put time in anymore, they just want everything handed to them after 3 hours of gameplay.

its not that people dont want to put in time anymore, its that the time they put in is worthless because the itemization sucks and because the AH is stagnant. maybe you are getting 6M items to still sell but for the majority of players, they are having trouble selling decent gear for xxx K gold. its my experience anyways and i dont know if i could be any more 'efficient' in my farming, there really isnt that much to it.

that may be true, but if itemization sucks now then it has sucked since day one. the ah may be stagnant but the abundance of items still makes it a lot cheaper to gear up than it did in the beginning. (and for the people that currently have super nice gear)

Everyone has their own experience with drops etc.

I've had average luck but if I spend 1-2 hours farming act 1 or act 2 I'll find at least 2-3 items that are sellable. People just don't want to put time in, and they feel they should get a 20 million gold item after playing for an hour. To me, any game(MMO or RPG type we are talking) is more enjoyable with the grind factor that results in finally achieving something either over time or with luck. I find that to be an enjoyable part of these types of games and is more to do with my background playing grindy MMO games growing up like Ultima Online. Just can't please anyone.

One thing Blizzard really needs though is a totally new franchise. You can see with both SC2 and Diablo 3 that way to many people have played the game before and compare the current game to it. And that is just making it very hard for them to ever go in a new direction for their games which might be better in the long run as people adapt to it but in the short term alienate the people that played and loved the previous game. They are in a no win situation, if SC2 or D3 were just the previous game with better graphics people would say they did nothing new and just copied the previous game, they go a new direction and people comment about how they liked the previous game better and should have just kept it the same.

To be fair Blizzard said their intentions were to have inferno take months to clear. So saying you have to be carried in act3 in 10m of gear doesnt mean much. 10m in gear is not really much at all. Hell i was in 150m+ in gear and still struggled in act 3 solo.

^^And yeah. I think its the WoW effect. Correct me if im wrong but in WoW arent there a ton of things like pvp where if you do it long enough you are guaranteed loot? WoW players probably make up a huge portion of d3 players, they arent used to having to struggle for upgrades. I do agree upgrades dropped more frequently in d2, but we also didnt have an AH to find gear wuth the exact stats you wanted.

I would love to see some of these people play vanilla everquest. 30+ hour spawn times where you arent even guaranteed an item. Rpgs are too easy these days. I am not saying I want to go back to how eq was, but the whole point of an rpg is the rewarding feeling of having better loot then someone, or finding that one really good item, or completing some hard quest.

im a 2year vanilla EQ player...here's my take on the last half page:

i don't think people necessarily want things given to them (some do...read: wow players), but the current system just isnt that fun. this is all the grinding of an MMO, but without the large scale PVE (many ppl), big world, or PVP option when you are bored. Basically it has a lot of the negatives with very few of the positives.

The skill system has some cool features, but a good chunk of the runes just arent worth exploring so the "real" number of builds is drastically smaller than advertised if you actually want to fight in inferno.

i think we've all played this game before in either mmo or d2 fashion so it just isnt fresh enough to warrant grinding for hours on end. a good parallel is to say, in order to beat WOW you have to introduce something newer and exciting. GW2, TERA and shit like that are trying...others have failed. why? b/c people don't want to grind nowadays when it isn't fun...we've done that.

People have their heads way too far up the MMO playstyle's ass.

This isn't an MMO, and it shouldn't at all try to emulate that playstle.

Its a single player game with a coop mode that lets you add a couple friends.

Noone gives a fuck about your gear or what your 'progress' is.

The end game doesn't have to be varied or fresh or dynamic. You grind gear. And as much as people like to bitch and complain, this game has far more options for grinding than either of its predecessors.

Blizzard could lose every single regular poster to their forums as customers and not feel a thing. That community is complete garbage.

Ultima Online was an amazing game. I played a Dread Lord Archer/Mage for 2 years. It took me years to get a full invulnerable set of armor. The best part of the game was being a hidden thief, waiting out in wide open spaces for some random dude to roll up to try and place his House Deed. Steal, Recall, Profit.

I completely disagree with this statement. The main grinding is now on champs which are basically the same crap you continuously killed while leveling up.

And all this BS about more skill options is just garbage. Sometimes less is more, and D3 is a perfect example of this. You may have more skills, but the playstyle for most of a class's builds are the exact same. In D2, you basically spammed just 1-2 skills, but at least they felt different. An Amazon could use bow (ranged) or javelin (ranged/melee). Druids were casters or pet or melee (or combos). Etc.

There needs to be some reason to actually go after specific bosses.

??

you can grind champs
you can grind goblins
you can grind champs to boss kills

you had what, 3 bosses that did the exact same thing every time in D2?

you go after bosses because they are guaranteed to drop twice the rares a champ pack is.

everyone just always remembers what was great about previous games and never what sucked. So people end up just plucking the good times.

If you don't like the game, move on there are tons of options now which is the best part of playing video games, there are tons out there. That is why most games lose so many players after a month, there is something different to move on to. If you like the game continue to play. But it is what it is. And some of the D3 complaints I've read are head scratchers, it is essentially people complaining about exactly what diablo is and always has been. Mindless clicking and gear chasing, and on that level it is hard to say that this game didn't deliver. I think people were expecting some evolution in gaming simply because the game took a while.

I always love too when people talk about "not enough end game." That is the worst MMO/RPG complaint ever. It is a mythical thing that will never exist in those types of games.

theres plenty of end game when the end game is actually challenging. when i played wow i don't even remember wondering "when's the next patch coming out" back in vanilla/bc.

what i wish had made it into d3:
creating and naming your own games for ppl to join
having 8 people in a game
loot explosions that included more than just blue/yellow items
