Hope you got there before about 2:15 PM, 'cause that's when I bought the last one.

Also, to all you knowledgeable beer folk, what are the rules on refrigeration? I know you shouldn't put a beer in the fridge and then take it back out, of course, but is there a time limit on how long a beer will stay optimal in the fridge as opposed to at room temperature (provided it was not chilled at purchase time)? Not talking about cellaring or anything like that, just within the few weeks-month at the most timeframe.

i posted about this on a page or two back. it's ok if you remove a cold beer from the fridge if you don't plan on drinking it. just keep them in a dark place, upright, and don't let them get above room temp.

i'm a little worried with summer around the corner because i have some great beers and it's going to be tough to find a place for them that is below 60F. thoughts on what I should do? besides drink the beer

limitations on refrigeration really have to do with the style of beer, but most craft brewers say their beer should be drank within the first 1-3 months and that's assuming it's chilled 100% of the time.

the thing is with AALs or macro lagers is that they are all pasteurized which kills the yeast, so they can last 6 months chilled... with craft beer it's live yeast, so anything over 55'F if it's an ale can cause the beer to continue fermenting and risks of off flavors increase.

russian river has a 2-week limit on the tapping of Pliny the Younger, and on their label for Pliny the Elder, explicitly state the beer is to be drank fresh, do not age Pliny! because of the high amount of oils found in beers that are dry-hopped, most IPAs do not last long.

Thanks, good info. I generally do not buy enough at once that I have anything more than a month or so, and if it's safest I'll just leave them refrigerated.

that is quite a shame since it is the opposite of what was originally intended for the beers- to make the long trip to India by boat

^ these days we like hops because they smell and taste awesome, rather than for their preservative properties - and they're most pungent when fresh

was there literally minutes after the last one went out, no big deal though - did pick up a bottle of eiraphiotes and an aviator growler

Pliny the Younger again today. It was awesome. Again. Also found out about another tapping in Denver on March 1st.

Also went to a new brewery that just opened up in Denver, incredible beers for just starting:

Two bottles of Southern Tier Choklat arrived unexpectedly via UPS today. My fiancee is awesome--I had told her offhand that I couldn't find it locally so she ordered it for me as a surprise.

What's everyone drinking today after the loss?

I've had a Celebration Ale, Dragons Milk, and I'm now onto Hopslam.

Cheers

Should be mentioned that drank founders all day ipa yesterday and found it really great for golfing and being able to drive home afterwards.

I used to trade fairly frequently on ba and organized a series of chain trades, but these days it's just a rare back-and-forth with a strategically placed friend and visiting bottle shops when I travel - that's enough to keep me happy, chasing after stuff just doesn't excite me as much anymore

Quote :
"On Wednesday, February 29th, bottles of “Chez Monieux” will go on sale. Limits on bottles will be enforced to a maximum of 4 bottles per person per day. If we suspect you are a retailer buying for resale, you will be denied sale, period. Since I don’t get out much, going to Belgium and concentrating of “Belgian Kreik” as a style to perfect was a big deal. I put my entire brewing prowess to work on making this edition one for the ages. We used very tart Balaton Cherries to infuse this sour, tart elixir into a beer we’re very proud of. Chez Monieux” is 7% abv and comes in a 750 ml Belgian style bottle for $23.95 plus tax and crv.

You have seen your very last growler of “Exponential Hoppiness” ever to be dispensed. http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=exponential+hoppiness&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc

Since I previously stated if I ever saw a growler of “Exponential Hoppiness” for sale on ebay there would never be another growler sold again. Don’t blame me, but you can see who to blame on the above link. As for bottles of “Expo” on ebay, I’m seriously considering never bottling it again. This is not just a personal issue, it’s illegal. The fact that people drove down from LA to make a quick buck and denying the locals the chance to buy some is also just plain wrong.

So, you can see the timing of the releases listed above. The first two beers were released last week, the next comes out today and the last one comes out tomorrow. That is the most advanced notice you ever receive. Our little operation is focused on supplying the local market with fine beer. If you live in the area you can now get first crack at our releases before they can drive in from points unknown. That’s the best I can do for you, my loyal locals."

Silent Night from Mother Earth was extremely good. Didn't care for their bourbon aged tripel at all, but maybe I'm just not a fan of that style of beer.

I like the Mother Earth beers. Don't know if I can justify paying more for their beer than other local microbreweries, but Dark Cloud is good. Endless River is not bad either on the lighter side
