as for the episode, awesome premiere i thought. lots of zombie action whcih was great; loved the riot gear zombies the best. i definitely saw bad things happening to Herschel when he started going off on his own to find Maggie and Glenn. poor guy

I thought it was good. As mentioned, a lot of action. And I liked the riot gear zombies as well. I actually like Herschel, so hopefully he doesn't die. The fact that they even bothered to do the amputation thing makes me think he'll make it... at least for a while.

my guess is that the immune system can keep the virus (or whatever) in check normally, but when they are bitten, the wound has such a high amount of virus it overwhelms the immune system.

^^^ Yeah. I just pushed the [believe] button on that one. Also, with an amputated limb I'd be really worried about infection. (from something other than zombies) They're running around in the wilderness through swamps and crap. No way that thing heals how it's supposed to.

I think he'll die, because it seems like it would increase their budget to have to CG out foot each time, and this show has trained me into thinking they are very budget conscious...

The part when Rick took the mask off the zombie and it ripped off it's skin really surprised me. I know this is a graphic show but something like that on a non premium channel was awesome.

I think a lot rides on how the play Michonne. Already I'm on the fence about her character's skills. Everyone else is, more or less, an everyday person. If they add someone will mythical (or whatever) skills it'll kill the show for me.

Why didn't they bring back the guy and his son from the first episode? That would have been interesting.

I believe in the comic she says that her brothers just stopped coming after her. Once she took off their arms and jaws they couldn't really do anything. She beat them enough where they just gave up.
