If anyone is looking for a reasonably priced, very solid IPA, try out Uinta Hopnotch. Really solid ipa with a good hop and a mild malt backbone with a very crisp finish. You can really slug them back with ease.

7.3%abv, $8 a sixer.

I gave up drinking for lent.

But still acquiring some good stuff, just got some Great Lakes Barrel-Aged Blackout Stout from a trade. I had some at GABF and loved it.

Great Lakes just did a tasting at Bottle Revolution yesterday afternoon, good stuff. I really like the Eliot Ness Amber Ale.

has anyone ever tried some of Evil Twin's beers? I was eye-ing some of the selection at Bottle Revolution but didnt pull the trigger on buying any

I also had an Old World Russian Imperial Stout last weekend, such a good brew. I tried a Rogue Dad's Little Helper black IPA last weekend too, it was alright, nothing too exciting

Foothills to release BBL Aged Peoples Porter to wide distribution. Hopefully we'll be able to find it all over the state at a decent price point $8-10 per bottle. Supposed to be out in the next few weeks

^^^definitely. i was shocked to see it in total wine for $14.99 a six pack. but i bought it anyways. found a pasta place in greensboro that has it on tap, so i'll get my fix from there for 4.50 a pint and call it a day from now on.

they must have their beers mixed up. I could see Sculpin IPA for 14.99 but Big Eye should not be.

Just stopped by the Beer Exchange...got a medium growler of the Green Flash Hop Head Red. Will be sharing this with the lady for dinner:

And got a mini-growler of the Holy City Notorious P.I.G. Bacon Porter for myself. Will probably drink tomorrow night. No pictures since it's a very limited keg release, but here's a description I found from Brewvival, our local beerfest:

Quote :
"The beer that generated whispered buzz among local beer geeks before Holy City Brewing even got started makes its official debut at Brewvival! It's a porter made with bacon, and some kind of black magic. The pure essence of bacon is present in the nose and taste, but there is nary an oil in sight. No slick, no fatty mouthfeel, just a porter with a bacon soul."

I'm pumped.

that sounds awesome.

a quick look around online and it seems the Big Eye really is in that price range. Some sites have it for $11.49 but then you have to add shipping to it.

Went to Bottle Revolution and had Aviator's Ryenocerous. Buffalo Trace bourbon BBL aged rye IPA. It was incredibly delicious. Had so much more bourbon flavor than I expected. A+

decent haul today

2x New Holland Blue Sunday Sour (gf loves this stuff)
Sierra Nevada Hoptimum
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2012
Greenman The Dweller Imperial Stout 2012

$20 for the Greenman, but I honestly was never expecting to see it come down the mountain and my store was lucky enough to get a case.

also...my store posted on facebook today a picture of Hopslam and the message "back by popular demand" with a note of only 2 bottles per person. Within the 20-30 minutes i was there probably 12 randoms came through the door trying to hoard up 6 packs and cases were getting mad that they were only limited to 2 bottles. Not to mention the fact they were completely over looking Hoptimum, Burton Baton, Aprihop and several other new IPA releases he had out front.

So I opened my bottle of Seven Devils today for the game. BIG bourbon flavor, more than I was expecting. Some serious stuff, almost too much for me. But it had almost no carbonation, and I also noticed that the cap came off much easier than usual. Did I get a bum bottle?

I had other beers, but wasn't too keen on the Moose Drool. Also Big Sky brewery isn't even located in Big Sky (lame). Their Trout Slayer wasn't that bad, but nothing I'd crave again.

Bayern Brewing Co's Schwarzbier wasn't too bad, and their Face Plant Doppleweizen was my 2nd favorite brew had out there. Red Lodge Ale's Glacier Ale was also pretty damn good. Their hefeweizen was a bit bland for my tastes, but not a bad beer.

Spent one night drinking at Lone Peak Brewery and had their Bourbon Barrel Stout (fantastic), Hellroaring ESB (really really great) and Hopfest '09 (so so, but I'm not a huge IPA fan). I also had their winter seasonal Steep N' Deep (above average), but from a bottle not tap.
