Went to the superdome last week. Saints fans are really nice and the stadium is super nice. Doesn't hurt to be in the heart of NOLA either =)

Mularkey hired in Jax = Chud staying put.

That is unless some asshole team like the Raiders move in on him.

read that this morning. hoping it's just a ruse to force a decision from Fisher. we need the Chud for at least another year.

Wonder what they do if he leaves?

I was thinking Norv but since he's staying I think they would probably promote Shula from QB coach to keep the offense consistent.

Jeff Fisher is taking the Rams job. One less opening for Chud. Any chance he might interview with Miami?

Eminem: Cam Newton is no fucking joke. I know everybody, before the season, had their doubts. They didn't think he'd work in the NFL. But that kid is ill. His shit is crazy. He can pass and run, and do them both extremely well."

if chud leaves, the interview better consist of something along the lines of "what is your plan for using the TEs on the roster" and it better be good

don't think Chud is going to bolt for a job like the Bucs. Hopefully he's just getting the experience of the interviews while giving the Big Cat ample motivation to give him a fat raise and extension.

I don't think we'll hang on to him for very long, but I think he's going to make himself a very desirable commodity for the big boy jobs after a few seasons of making Cam a motherfucking monster. Instead of taking a job now with a blah team like TB or the Raiders, he might be able to be a top 5-7 paid OC, and after Cam has adorned his jersey in the blood of his foes Chud can go somewhere big time.

Hmm....wonder how short the leash is on Rex in NY? And, while the Giants pulled their season out yet again, the anti-Coughlin crowd will be back if GB wrecks them in Lambeau. Or, if Andy Reid doesn't win a playoff game next season, might that not be a great fit? (Not sure if $100 million man would still be there though)

anyway, who the fuck knows. Hopefully we get another season or two of Chud to set Cam up right. I really just hope he stays so Cam can actually have a real offseason to work with this offense. After next season, we're probably going to have to say goodbye.

Edited to add: Since we could use another corner in the draft, anyone think that taking Brandon Boykin from UGA might be a great fit? Not only is he very good playing coverage, he is a hell of a punt returner, AND Georgia used him on offense many many times this season. In the bowl game this year, he had a safety, punt return td, and a reception td. I don't think there's too many opportunities anymore for 2 way players in the NFL, but if anyone could make it work, I bet Chud could.

[Edited on January 14, 2012 at 12:39 PM. Reason : he is only 5'10" though...but he'll probably tower over the Captain]

"Stat of the Week

The Carolina Panthers scored 210 more points in 2011 (406) than they did in 2010 (196).

Cam Newton accounted for 210 points in 2011. He threw for 21 touchdowns and ran for 14. Those 35 touchdowns, multiplied times six points, equal 210.

Sorry I just saw this. 2 tickets together were 100 each. My buddy got a single for 61 in the lower level. It is VERY hard to find 2 together for any saints game

Ok I forgot that the NFL is switching to Nike jerseys. Normally IIRC players have to pay Rebok if they switch jerseys since the unsold jerseys with the current number are now worthless.

But with the switch to Nike anyone will be able to change numbers with no penalty.

So I adjust my theory to 65% chance he stays at 1, 35% chance he goes to 2 (if Pickles is cut).

AndyMac, that was why I asked with the change coming...I wonder how many players will change.

there is no way they hold on to Clausen, he didnt even suit up for most of the games.

I see him changing to 2.

I don't think he'll change. He made his name as #1. To switch would just screw over everyone who bought his jersey this year.

I hope he stays at 1, and I think most Panthers fans hope that also. We don't give a shit about Auburn or what number he wore for a year there, we all know him as #1 and a significant number have bought #1 jerseys.

That's why I think he stays.

On the other hand, a Cam Newton #1 would be like having a Cam Newton rookie card

I suppose you are correct, he does go for what the fans want quite a bit. I'll just wait til the nike jerseys come out to snatch me up a cam jersey.

[Edited on January 24, 2012 at 2:47 PM. Reason : though I could snatch up a kids XL cam jersey for like 40 bucks now.]

Russell Wilson said he met with the Panthers this week. Panthers possibly looking for a backup QB that can run same offense as Cam Newton. Wilson has the skills to run the read option, would be Cam's mini-me. With a later pick, would be interesting move. "

^ That's interesting. Especially considering the propensity for a mobile QB to get hurt. We could see Russel playing for the Panthers in no time. That would be awesome.

Cut Clausen, don't resign Anderson

Have an all-mobile QB corps with Wilson the backup and AE the emergency QB.

In all honesty, I don't see the panthers drafting a qb before the 5th or 6th round and I bet wilson goes in 3 or 4.

We could come up with all kinds of crazy schemes that involve having both Cam and Russell on the field at the same time. Didn't the Eagles experiment a bit with that when they had McNabb and Vick?
