if this highlight video is any indication of his tendencies, our fanbase is gonna love a big guy who shoots a lot of fadeaways

I mean, the dude has "Killeya" in his name...that's enough for me to sign him up. That's the guy that recently decommitted from UVA and most assumed he was a lock for UNC right?
Crazy that it's this late in recruiting and we're on 3 big fish still. 7/2/2015 8:21:53 AM |

i really want Killeya and Bam solely for their names.
add in Beejay, Brickhouse, and Cat (even if he may not be here for his senior year) and we might have the best names in the nation. 7/2/2015 8:39:38 AM |

so to expand on my post from last page, we could potentially (long shot, probably) beat out kentucky for 3 recruits in this class. hahah.
and ^^, it basically says we're recruiting the Greek and Rowan.

Think DSJ said it would be Fall before he committed and I think Bam was more likely an April decision.
I know DSJ already said he's definitely taking some OVs including Cal. 7/6/2015 10:24:59 AM |

He looks pretty weak for an ACC type big man, at least based off of what I saw in that video. He needs to get much stronger, or he will just get pushed around by ACC big men. 7/6/2015 2:43:06 PM |

I know how he looks on paper, but did you see his highlight reel? He was playing against scrubs much smaller than him and still getting pushed around a bit. He also seems to have issues with establishing himself in tha paint, and he has very little outside/midrange game for a euro big man.
I get the potential, but he does look like a project.

BanjoMan. The video link I posted above on this page is Killeya Jones, who is 6'10" 190lbs. Georgios Papagiannis is 7'1" 260lbs. 7/6/2015 4:41:36 PM |

the link I'm referring to is the correct link. It is on the previous page. So, vaya con dios, bra.
There are two links, actually. And nearly every time that this guy catches the ball, he is outside of the post and has to settle for some weak ass floater as opposed to taking it strong. Just sayin'.

If Vandy could contribute, this guy can too. People aren't expecting him to be a superstar, but if Freeman redshirt, we only have two big men, one of whom is perpetually put of shape. 7/6/2015 4:52:30 PM |

I'm surprised we haven't tried to get anyone to play PG (at least that I'm aware). Not that we need a superstar, just somebody who can give Cat some breaks.

Was Vandy even a top 100 kid when we signed him? The Greek was a top 50 kid in the U.S. before he went back over to Greece and played professionally last year. I've only seen one highlight video of him playing against grown ass men and he more than held his own. He's not going to come in here and dominate, but he would have more impact here as a freshman than Vandy did as a senior. 7/6/2015 5:24:47 PM |

Sorry if this has been covered, but how does a kid go play professionally and get to come back to college? Isn't that kinda against the rules 7/6/2015 5:46:46 PM |
jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
They worked out a deal that he wouldn't get paid and he would retain his amateur status if he came back to play with them. They made sure to follow the rules so that he would have the choice to come back and play a year of college or stay in Greece.

Most European kids that play college ball in the US came from pro teams, but they aren't getting paid. The system over their is completely different than it is in the US.

You can talk all the shit you want, but Vandy actually was a "solid" player his senior year. No he wasn't All-ACC, but he was a solid contributor. Had he only gotten serious about his conditioning earlier in his career he might have amounted to a really solid 2-3 year guy. 7/7/2015 7:56:13 AM |

Sounds like transfer Chris Obekpa is looking at us and Arizona State. Beast shot-blocker. I'm not the biggest fan of his, seeing as how he's kind of a headcase, he would only have 1 year of eligibility and his skills are somewhat redundant with Anya on the team. But it would be pretty funny if next season we had a front line of Anya, Abu, Obekpa and Adebayo.
Also, Anya-Obekpa block party would be fun to watch.

Kanellos reiterated the fact that Georgios has a BIG DECISION to make, but he hasn’t made a decision yet, and no schools have been eliminated from contention." |

I really don't understand why the kid is having a hard time with this decision.
His parents want him to go to college for 1 year. He said he wants to go to college for 1 year. He has a contract waiting for him in Europe if he isn't a 1-and-done NBA player. He'd get a lot more PT and exposure in the NCAA. If he's maintained eligibility, then the "paid to play" situation can't be that great because I'm pretty sure he either isn't getting that money yet or it's small enough that he doesn't lose his NCAA eligibility.
All that being said, he'll still stay in Greece. #NCStateShit 7/8/2015 8:42:38 AM |

I mean, he's still a teenager right? Maybe he's getting cold feet due to homesickness, etc. We really make the most sense for him because he'd have an immediate role and he'd be playing in the best conference in the NCAA. 7/8/2015 10:34:12 AM |
