And I'm sure you know i couldn't care less who is who when i sit down at a poker table. All I think about is how to win.

But if you want to make it a manhood reference, fine. He cried when he bought in for $40 last night instead of the usual $20 - though at that time 3 of us had over $100 in front of us. Last week he took $ off the table mid-game so he wouldn't lose it to him, after whining about him coming at all since he wasn't there at the start.

That's pretty damn weak to me - if you're that afraid of 1 person. He lets that get in the way of any common sense at the table.

I should say that he has even go so far as to accuse me and the "strong" player of sending signals to each other, which is just hilarious.

And this is nothing I have not said to him in person. He is my neighbor after all, not like I don't see him everyday.

Poor guy.

Karim's not intimidating... Geez.

I feel sorry for the fella.

But I'm glad you're at least telling your neighbor how you feel... If he knows you look at him this way, then why does he continue to come back?

He enjoys the game, I know that for a fact. I think if he stopped guzziling beer while we play he may be able to step up and figure things out too.

He's aggressive enough that he can make an impact, but he is horrible at picking his spots, even against other players. And he has finished ahead before... when the strong player wasn't there.

besides, when am I ever anything short of brutally honest?

I don't see you ever because you live in BFE and you have poker too late sometimes. lol

"It's like you're actually questioning the manhood of this guy instead of his poker skills and this IS a poker thread, but hey- that's just how I read it. I'm sure you're not actually calling one a weaker person and the other a stronger person at all. "

Some individuals are more strong-willed than others. Others crumble under-pressure instead of actually sitting back to take the time to logically figure out a problem. Poker is a situational game of tough decisions and the ability to make those tough decision depends on the mental fortitude and willingness of that individual to gamble regardless of who is in the pot with them. In other words they have balls (pun intended). So it is a question of manhood for lack of a better word (I am addressing a woman). It is also a question of skill, experience and the ability to logically break down a situation and come up with the correct decision(s). I wouldnt go so far as to call the guy a pussy, but I will say you cant let one individual completely influence your game instead of adjusting within your own boundaries and expect to win money.

That being said, why dont you come out tonight and play?

^^^it depends on if he does it consistently or not...if you got a guy that continually reraises with shitty hands and hopes to get lucky, that is not the sign of a good player. however, if you have someone that switches up their play and does what you said, then it could be construed as a good play. either way, i still dont agree on RE-raising with 6 7, maybe just a call to try and take the pot away later in the hand.

nah he was clearly raising /betting out on any paint, connectors suited...etc

it was the reraise back and forth that blindsided me.

perhaps mcguyver thought he was conservative, and decided to raise to throw people off. Negative.

Im not being a smartass, especially if that 67 was suited. There are a lot of ways a flop can hit you with cards like that. And by raising he might win the pot preflop, and if you call, you arent gonna usually be able to put him on a hand. I am not saying this EXACT guy did this all because he was good, but he was prolly mixing up his game. When he reraises you and you call, he has a pretty damn good idea what you are prolly holding.

Kolin- You edit your posts more than any person I've ever seen.

If you say something, you should leave it there and not chicken out.

Especially considering your large discussion on "manhood" or lack thereof earlier in this thread.

I was drunk and it was inappropriate. Excuse me for having the couth to come back editing something that did not contribute anything to a dicussion of poker.

I remember the important points of my post though:

Pulling a "kolin" would not be that play I made on Monday. In a 4 handed game where you have top pair with a straight draw, calling an all-in for less than an eighth of your stack, and hitting the straight, is not pulling a "kol".

2nd, you say if you played high stakes. I think you have to accomplish this feat first before you could speak of taking someone in a such a game.

That being said, I am more than willing to have you test your theory in a heads up game with me. If you win you not only get the whole pot, but you get to say what you all love to say...."I was right"

First of all, "pulling a Kolin" was not in reference to that hand.

But if you're going to discuss that hand, at least get it right.

You had middle pair and you were open-ended. I didn't go all in because you were first to act. You put me all in w/ your bet and then you sucked out on my top two pair on the flop w/ your straight on the river.

I believe that sucking out is the only way you can win and if you're going to refer to that night, you can also refer to the fact that you busted out in less than 15 minutes when you bought in w/ 40 dollars and had to trot on out and get more cash.

So if you're going to discuss a hand, at least make yourself look a little intelligent by remembering the details.

And when I was referring to "pulling a Kolin", I was referring to the ridiculous play you made where Sean took all your money on Tuesday. Ah yes, I know ALL about that. And that folks, is pulling a Kolin and losing all your money.

Quote :
"KOL... sorry dude. That was still the toughest call i ever made."

And I've accomplished taking much money from you in the past. We don't play together anymore but you've bought me quite a few things from all the times you've tried to bluff and I called you w/ flopped boats, trips, etc at Amelia's. Thanks btw.

And I've already told you I don't play for 100 dollar stakes, if that's the only way you can keep your pride by designating we play for a price that I refuse to play for, then that's fine-- take that road, but you and I both know who is the better player and who ends up w/ their money the most at the end of the night.

Best hand of poker I ever played was in a 3/6 limit game. They were doing a rotation of two rounds of Texas Hold-em, and one round of omaha (possibly hi/lo, depending on the button's choice). I was into my second round of hold-em for the night when I had pocket kings under the gun.

I raised to 6 dollars and got cold called by 5 other players including the small and big blind. The flop was K, 7, 2 rainbow, so of course I was stunned to find the small blind bet and big blind call. At this point, knowing how loose the table was, I decided to turn over my hand so the table could see my top set. I showed everyone, raised, and still got a caller.

To this day I don't know what he had, but he folded on the turn when the 7 paired. PKR is great!

Incidentally I still run a 1/2 NL cash game every wednesday night. PM me for details.

I just got plotzed on in the first of the 2 nightly PLO8 tourneys on PR.

About 40 min in I have 2200 in chips, 50/100 blind level

I get Kh Qh Jd 10d in middle position and call a min raise, along with 4 others.

Flop: Ks Kc 8c

Min raiser leads out for $200, I and 2 others call (I probably should've potted it)

Turn 10:

Min raise guy leads out for $300... I make it 1000, the other 2 fold. He puts me all in, and I, of course, call.

He has A A 10 10

River: A

Ouch.

My opponent kkthai has been playing a lot of pots, limping with weak hands. I tested her here.

Usually when a bad player springs ot life in the betting, I think they hit their draw. On the turn this happened, and although I had a flush.... it was only Jack high with the Queen on the board. I called the turn and the river was a blank....

What do you do?

^ The river is not a blank, it paired the board. Like the man below said, I'd just call the small bet there

Here's a bad miss story.... I'm heads up in a $10 PLO8 SnG

I get Ah Jc 7c 3h and call a min raise (800 total). He has 9500 I have 5500 in chips

Flop 4h 5s 9h

I bet the pot, he calls

Turn 10c

So now I have the nut flush draw, and a triple gutted straight draw. I also have a solid low draw.
I bet 1000, he pushes me all in, and I call

He has As Js 9d 5d

River is 9c - to boat him up and rub it in.

How many outs did I miss there at the river? Correct me if I am wrong.
8 hearts (not the 5) for the nut flush
3 more 8s for the straight to the Jack
3 more 6s for the straight to the 7
3 more 2s for the wheel

Plus any of my hole cards (A 3 7) for the low, sice he had no low cards - so 9 more

26 cards of the 40 left.
