Yeah speaking of - surprised there isnt more uncharted talk. What's up with that? The warhawk chat has me bored.

But Uncharted it's a solid game, even very good game. Perhaps not one of those 'instant buys' I guess though...but are none of you playing it sans shrike?

I'm pretty pumped to get into it tonight.

I fired it up for a few minutes last night after beating mass effect(epic ending) and it was a refreshing change. Different style, and different game.

I'm feeling the platforming puzzles so far, I haven't done those in a long time.

I'm looking forward to it, but right now I have CoD4 on the PC to complete (and the MP keeps me busy too), TF2, Stranglehold (I actually like the game...no, it's not fantastic, but it is fun), Assassin's Creed, etc

Ok, so let me rephrase the question since I didn't realize all of you were on the rag this week.

What I meant to say was:

is Uncharted the game where you are this treasure hunter on a quest to find ancient artifacts and treasures for the good of mankind and a bunch of bad guys are chasing after you? If THAT is the game I'm thinking about, it does look pretty sweet! Not sure how being similar to Indiana Jones could possibly be an insult LOL

umm...no? A game that involves treasure hunting for ancient artifacts and the player is this badass guy/girl on a quest IS very similar to Indiana Jones.

A game that takes place on earth however is not similar to Indiana Jones JUST because it takes place on Earth. typical PS3 douche bag response.

Just like tomb raider. The first 2 were awesome!

Not to mention the fact that you didn't say anything about it "looking pretty sweet" in your original post, and the fact that you were asking a question to which you already knew the answer.

or the fact that the term "knock off" has negative connotations. Here's an example for ya:

Golovko is a knock off of more successful trolls like Stein and Quinn. See? That's kind of implying that you aren't as good of a troll as they are, which is definitely true.

you just keep proving yourself to be a ps3 fanatik with each and every new post. grats!

I wasn't 100% certain if uncharted was the game I saw screenshots for which is why I asked. The title made sense with screenshots like that but again I wanted to be sure. To put the icing on the cake, fanatik. I'll be checking out uncharted demo this weekend and possibly buying a PS3 if I like it.

fanatik is a knock off of shrike.

Moving on...

anyone played Pain? I picked it up and while it's fun... I don't really think it's worth $10. There's only one area to play in, and it's gonna get old fast. And I bet some DLC will *magically* be developed to solve that problem. They just better give it away for free, cuz as of right now it really does feel like you're paying $10 for a demo.

I've gotten to the empty city in Uncharted.

Gameplay has been pretty fun so far. Its very linear, so nothing is hard to miss. I'm just starting to get annoyed at the sequenced swarms that come at me. I thought that kind of level design ended in 1999, but apparently not.

I also am get tired of the same constant platforming required. Hopefully more puzzles surface that aren't related to "lightly colored bricks indicating loose ledge."

Does anyone have a USB-PS2 controller adapter? Is there any place around here that carries one? I'm really hesitant on buying one of 'em from ebay. Who knows how much latency there will be with guitar hero or other games.

^Gamestop carries them for $14.99 (I believe that's the correct price). My friend bought one and gave up on the Guitar Hero games on his PS3 due to the ordeal you have to go through depending on if you're playing the first or second game. I'm not sure how well it works for anything else.

thats old school original prince of Persia style. Lighter ground tiles would crack and break open. It helps the more retarded gamers out there. But takes away from the suspense and having to have quick reactions.

how was resistance fall of man? (or whatever) That was one game I'd be curious to try out. I don't think i'd get any racing games until they made a wheel for the PS3. Unless I can just use a PC wheel via USB.

Honestly, the platforming doesn't get much better, just a little bit harder and more frustrating where a tiny fuck up can leave you starting all over again. You do get a few more puzzles to solve later in the game, but they are relatively straightforward and nothing like the massive puzzles in God of War (which were fucking awesome). The shooting and combat is far and away the best gameplay aspect of this game, and stays consistently fun throughout.

I frankly hated it. But I suppose for a general audience, it's decent enough. I couldn't help but feel like it was like a sterile, super diet zero carb version of Gears of War. I'd skip it. There are a dozen other console shooters out there that do this better. I played for an hour and sent it right back to Gamefly. Also, it is quite ugly (last gen graphics with small additions), and the sound design is bad.

I know alot of these posters will laude it....but I'm not trying to troll here. Just an opinion. If you want to check out games for the PS3, it's pretty much R&C and Uncharted. Warhawk is decent although there are far better multipalyer shooters. It is unique, I'll give it that. Eye of Judgement if you have the nerd in ya, and MotorStorm if you have the yee haw racin' in you. Some titles on PSN Store I guess, but that'll cover it, sans multi platform. Which you have a 360, just stick with that version for Live! and achievements.

AWESOME movie player. I can't stress that enough.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there.

It's a multiplayer game with infantry, air and land vehicles, massive maps, and 32 player servers. There isn't anything else like it on the consoles and IMO, it pulls it off far better than the PC entries like Battlefield 2. It doesn't have the depth of those games, but the fast pace and overall fluidity of going from one play style to another makes up for it. It may have not clicked with you, but that's no reason to throw it under the bus. It's a game I would recommend you play and not base your decision on other people's opinion. If you like large scale vehicular combat, it's pretty much your best and really only choice (on a console).

The only thing I know about Resistance is that it's still the most played game on the PSN. It seems to have a pretty loyal following, even after games like CoD4 have hit. Take that anyway you like, I've never played it myself outside of the demo.

Good points.

Thats true, and I alluded to that although maybe shortchanged it a bit....all I mentioned was that Warhawk was definitely 'unique'. To expand on it, it does have a lot of qualities that make it a standout. I suppose what I meant that in terms of multiplayer shooter games out there, I still feel there are far better experiences that can take that valuable gaming time that's gettin fought over there with all that's out. If COD4 and/or TF2 don't top your list now and into the spacious future for those that like competetive shooters...not sure what else will. Granted, Warhawk throws a twist and does have good size and scope. Problem is, the format of the game is so LAND vs. AIR that you never really feel cohesive as a team. There are hardly any servers that are organized and chatting that make you appreicate such a big team scenario. That, and the controls are a bit awkward. It's not bad, but yeah it absoultely doesnt belong under the bus. Hell, if it came out earlier this year I would have probably put it through more paces.

And yeah, I never tried Resistance Multiplayer so I guess I shouldnt write that off. My criticism was only single player...sorry, should have mentioned that.

I thought Resistance was a whole lot of fun. Its a standard FPS with Vehicles. There is no cover, etc. so I would really say its a lot like Halo with better graphics, but with less story and less multiplayer options. I really had a good time with it though, especially playing split screen co-op with my bro.

They're going to make a couple more Resistance games (trilogy) as well so I think that those will be a whole lot deeper as they won't have to rush the hell out of it like they did with the first one. The gameplay on the first one I think is great, but there is very little story and a bunch of loose ends that I think will be focused on more in the next titles.

Its Tomb Raider with a dude.

The graphics put Mass Effect to shame honestly but I think the ps3 can do a whole lot more as well.

The problem with the ps3 is that the upcoming game lineup doesn't look more enticing then the Xbox360. In fact, it actually looks decidedly weaker. Nor does the fact that cross platform games scoring higher points with their 360 versions.

I'm actually starting to think that MS was right in pushing their console out first because the 360 is rolling momentum that will only get stronger as Wii sales start to slope off.

Oh well. Doesn't concern me any longer. I've got both =P.

Yeah it is. And the comment about Resistance having better graphics than Halo 3.....no.....not really. Play both for at least 20 minutes by yourself on the same TV before you make that claim. I have, I'm afraid that Resistance's color scheme is extremely muddy and dull (almost monocrhome), there doesnt exist that level of bump mapping, lighting, not to mention PHYSICS, and sound/music design aren't even in the same league.

I wouldn't liken the two...Halo 3 would thrash Resistance in that fight in all categories. That's not saying Resistance is bad, but being they are so similar thematically and mechanically, the contrast affords a direct comparison.

I thought Resistance was mediocre. IMHO the only reason it gained such popularity was because it was the only decent title at launch. Some of the guns are kinda creative + cool, I guess.

My PS3 exclusives must-have list:

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (PSN)
Warhawk (PSN)
Everyday Shooter (PSN)
Uncharted
Ratchet and Clank

Fanatic, I agree that there is not as much color in resistance, but that is partially the point of that game, to be a darker looking game. The textures are much better in my opinion, not to mention the game is actually in HD, while Halo (technically) is not.

The proof is in the pudding. As I said, there's no one in their right mind if they were being consistent and objective that play both titles back to back as a comparison, and come back thinking that Sepia drenched game is close to Halo3. And that's just graphics, presentation is absolutely weighed heavy to halo's favor. Not a big surprise, the budget was huge.

ANYWAY There's likely more productive or intriguing discussion to have than discuss two games that 'came and went'. Next topic....anything going on new?

This looks neat - http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/kotaku/full/~3/195868249/q+games-reveals-monsters-brings-tower-defense-to-playstation-3-330436.php

There were some new Killzone 2 screenshots released but I'm not in the mood to hunt them down. You can pre-order GT5: Prologue from the Japanese import sites. BD profile 1.1 firmware update was confirmed by Sony reps to be coming this December. Some FFXIII and MGS4 news reaffirming exclusivity. UTIII and Orange Box PS3 release December 11. Haze got delayed to 2008. Warhawk expansion this month. Home updates. You can look it all up yourselves, but the news has been relatively minor lately.
