I love #1 and #2. #3 is beautiful too, but there's something about the first two that are really beautiful. The sweetheart neckline in 1 really makes it I think. And for 2 for me it's the lace itself. It's really beautiful.

I think the only way you'll know for sure about #2 is to try it on...and yeah it's lace, but might be a lot around the neck in May making you hotter than you would like on your wedding day. But if there aren't a lot of layers it won't be too hot...whereas 1 looks like it probably has more layers underneath b/c of the train length.

Yeah I'm wishy washy btw which is more awesome of 1 and 2 ...sorry

I think #1 is the most functional and fashionable of the three. Number three strikes me as grandmothery for some reason...like- it'll look like a dated relic rather than a fashionable icon from your wedding. Which COULD BE what you may want?!

However, let's keep things in perspective: all three of those dresses are amazing and I'm sure you'd look great in all three.

I just read what I posted in here a few weeks ago about the wedding in Swansboro area...

Now that I have shopped around at a few venues, I've learned that:
1- The service generally sucks at a lot of restaurants that are also reception sites. (White Oak Bistro, anyone? Ever heard of it? I have heard terribly mixed reviews....)

2- It's really hard to find these places without visiting the area myself! It's kind of rural down there, so I can't find reception venues on moderately intense webs of google searches and surfing....

3- I wonder if I could put up an ad on craigslist for Eastern NC? Find out if anyone knows of any venues? Should I just bite the bullet and get a wedding planner? Wedding planners are looking at ~$850 for full-gambit wedding planning...invitations to rehearsal dinners to reception cleanup.

It's not easy planning a ~180 top wedding from 1500 miles away. (I'm in Corpus Christi -almost-mexico, TX) Any tips? Does anyone KNOW of any ceremony/reception venues in Swansboro/Cape Carteret on the water? I'm a bit overwhelmed.......I think I'm going to have to fly home in March.

Have you tried using Crystal Coast bride's website? Not sure if they cover Swansboro but worth a shot.

Oh hey didn't realize how close Swansboro is to Topsail (that's where I'm getting married). I've done all my planning long distance too. That website is a good launching point.

^4 omg want to watch!!!

@ Samwise: all three are gorgeous- they are actually very similar (I am guessing the same designer) to some I tried on. I love love LOVE the great details they all have.

First things first- don't worry so much about the bra issue. A lot of dresses (not just those with boning!) are designed to be very supportive, and if they aren't that supportive, any skilled seamstress should be able to easily add cups in the bodice, which removes the need for a bra.

As for the high neck detail of dress 2, I wouldn't worry much about that being similar to your sisters lacing. There are ways to wear a similar feature like that but still look very different (hair style being a big one, also a veil or other hair accessories, and earrings)

And just a side note- have you tried anything on yet? I found myself drawn to several different gowns, but when you actually wear them, it's a whole different ball game. Like you said, the dress you first liked looked completely different on a model than in a photo. It's all about what fits you and your body type the best. You might just want to take an hour or two at a bridal salon and try stuff on, just to give yourself an idea of what you like when it's on.

Oh snap, I didn't even think about adding cups into a dress... and I guess if it has straps already + cups, I should be good Think that Olga lady could do it?

Brandi brought up a good point... I don't even like shit around my neck very much, so dress #2 is out for me. And I get really irritated with itchy material so I don't know what I was thinking when I thought lace around my neck would be a good idea.

I don't know, maybe this is going to sound really silly, but I keep thinking about dress #1. And now that I know a seamstress can add in cups, I can't find anything wrong with it... Even with the train being longer than I would prefer, it's still very pretty and casual.

I'm the type where when I see something that I love, I know it's what I want and even when I try to look around I just keep thinking back to that specific item, situation, what have you. I did it with careers, even our wedding photographer (of course Eric's opinion mattered, but he really didn't care who it was as long as they didn't suck )... I'm going to be looking for dresses this summer and I'm going to see what bridal salons have that dress. I feel like the cut is going to work very well with my body shape (I got dat hourglass, and my pooch is nothing a good pair of Spanx can't cover up... /bragging?) and it looks comfy. Of course I'll have to see it in person, but I don't know... My gut is just giving me good vibes on this one. I get butterflies thinking about it. /silly

In other news, I LOVE THESE DRESSES... I might try to find something like these for the rehearsal dinner

Also, I decided on hair (something similar to this)

and shoes

Ok I'll stop with the flooding of pics now.

Thanks for all the honest opinions/suggestions It's nice to be able to come here and chat about this stuff... I feel bad talking about a bunch of wedding stuff with friends because I don't want them to think that's all I think about - at least I know other brides/grooms on here are stressed about just as much shit as I am (about wedding stuff... or at least thinking about it as much as I am)

My friend got married at the Crystal Coast Civic Center... it was very pretty. Not on the beach, but on the sound. Also, my best friend was married on the beach and had their reception at Sandcastles (part of the Sheraton) in Atlantic Beach... Annnnnd another friend of mine was married at Dolphin Ridge in Emerald Isle - my aunt also works there.. It's very nice

Love Allure dresses!! Mine is the 8634 which is very similar to these but has a v neck. I just picked it up last week from Fontaine in Wilmington.

I know they have #2 in stock and may have more of your picks. I tried it and agree it is too much on your neck. I originally fell in love with 8751 http://www.thebridalboutique.com/products/allure-bridals-bridal-gown-style-8751http://www.thebridalboutique.com/products/allure-bridals-bridal-gown-style-8751
which has the shorter sweep train and the applique effect of your #3. It's at Fontaine as well.

I am excited to see Olga in a few weeks and she will be sewing cups in so no bra for me! Good luck and go with your instincts, but of course try them on and take pictures!

Yesterday I tried on a wedding dress that had lace around the neck. OMG SO ITCHY!!! I was itchy 30 minutes after taking the dress off. No one I could survive a wedding like that

i'm not planning a wedding (well not one that is taking place haha...i still like to dream, though) but i found a picture of a dress everyone will hate, but i really like. i dunno if i'd actually ever wear something like this, as it doesn't exactly fit the vibe of what i picture my wedding being, but i think it is super fun:

also love this...might be the same one sam posted...or at least very similar.

don't like how long the train is on this one, but i like how it is funky

i'd never be able to pull something like this off, but some tall beautiful bride should!! because i <3 it. if i could pull this off THIS would be THE dress:

love...if i was a 2 dress one for the ceremony one for the party kinda girl:

oh hai. another dress i'd never wear or be able to pull off but is fun to look at...

ok i'm done wasting time and pictures now!!! but you can waste a lot of time on the pronovias website looking at all the beautiful and $$$texas wedding dresses haha

i'm like 5ft 2 on a good day haha

and you are the first person i thought of when i saw the picture of that dress!

i really love that dress it is SO pretty and elegant and like everything i love

the cupcake-y ones are really fun to look at but i'd never wear them haha...i mean i'd like to wear them for like 5 seconds and spin around and be like "weeeeeeee" but then i'd be done. but i still like looking at them. especially the ones with big ass tulle full skirts. those are fun.

it involves bending over, grabbing the breast underneath, and pulling up and placing in to the cup she installs (or bra). it's like BAM! boob job.

i like the one joie posted and this one:

i'm kinda surprised because i thought i'd like them more than i do. *shrug* perhaps when i see more

but i LOVE SOME OF THE (OK LIKE ALL OF THE) BRIDESMAID DRESSES OMG:

(ok if i were getting married in some tropical or asian destination, i would POTENTIALLY rock this one as a wedding dress even. i know it'd be strange, but i can picture a situation in which it'd be awesome. or maybe as the reception dress. of course, i'd also need like 6ft tall legs to make it work )

could also be cute as a wedding dress:

First weekend of May. I technically sent them out a bit early according to wedding etiquette but 90% of our guest list isn't in NC. I actually had a friend today say it was good I sent them when I did because a coworker of her was tring to force her into catering her baby shower the same day

We were planning on a March 5 wedding, but then military shit got in the way so now we've pushed it back to July in Charleston. Luckily, I've already paid for and gotten my dress. I just need to have a few tiny alterations done. Between relocating to Jacksonville and graduating in May, I dunno when I'm gonna have time to do EVERYTHING.

where's everyone having their rehearsal dinner (assuming you have one)? are you invited solely the wedding party or other family members, too? are you doing a set menu or just ordering straight from the menu? i left that job up to the fiance so i think some ideas may help

I had friends that did more of a cook-out style rehearsal dinner so they could include more people as a lot of their guests were from out of town. Although that's not the case with my wedding, we'll probably still shoot to do something like that.

Maybe get catering from somewhere with BBQ or fun like that. We'll be able to invite a lot more people that way since it won't be at a restaurant where we're held to our numbers.

We're having a more casual reception (bbq and such) so I think for the rehearsal dinner we will opt for a nicer, sit-down restaurant and let people pick from the menu. Plus, Eric's dad is paying for it and I think he would just prefer that anyways. I'm thinking Cafe' Lunna would be good
