I am familiar with the circumstances of Stoglin leaving Maryland, I didn't think it was necessary to include said circumstances for the purposes of this discussion.

Well, I imagine the unathletic dykes that fill the softball ranks are likely prone to injury no matter how they exert themselves

Look Stoglin was a 20+ ppg guy with a 38 percentage from threes. Now, that's not the kind of guy that you would let just walk out on you.
Gilchrist I could understand better, but he was about a 13 ppg guy with a 37 % 3pt shot. I think that this is ultimately bad news for Maryland.

One is obviously more of a playmaker and the other is more of a scorer. But Stoglin is definitely nasty and we're glad he's gone.

Great article on CJL
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/basketball/ncaa/08/27/CJ-Leslie-NC-State/index.html?eref=twitter_feed
Quote : | ""I knew if I came back we had a really good chance of being great," Leslie says. "I just thought I wasn't done here. I've still got something to prove. We can do something special that would stick around on my resume forever. People could put my name on the wall and say I was one of the guys who did it." When Leslie is asked which name he would want etched onto that wall, he laughs and then thinks for a moment before answering. "You know it doesn't matter; C.J., Calvin, whatever," Leslie says. "As long as my last name is up there, I'll be fine. But I will say this; if Coach has his way it'll be Calvin."" |
Also I lol'd at this:
Quote : | "Suddenly Leslie's teammates and coaches began to see a fun-loving side of him. He opened up. They learned that he was a country boy, who enjoys nothing more than to throw on a ballcap, get some sunflower seeds and a Gatorade and go fishing with his brothers. They saw him laugh at himself over a slightly off-color poem he'd written for an English class as a freshman that was later posted on the Internet. They also learned, the hard way, that Leslie is a prankster. When a player fell asleep on the team bus, Leslie was often there to squeeze mustard into his mouth. Sometimes when assistant coach Orlando Early would text Leslie to remind him that practice began at 4 p.m., Leslie would text back that he was in Charlotte and couldn't make it back by 4. Then Early would overhear Leslie snickering in the training room." |

C.J. Leslie Named A Preseason [2nd team] All-American By The Sporting News
http://www.gopack.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/100112aaa.html
Quote : | "Oct. 1, 2012 RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State junior forward C.J. Leslie was named to The Sporting News’ preseason All-America second-team the publication announced today.
Leslie led the Wolfpack in scoring last season with 14.7 points per game and was one of three ACC players to rank in the top 10 in scoring (ninth), field goal percentage (third - .525) and rebounding (eighth – 7.1 rpg). He was an ACC All-Tournament first team selection as well as an All-ACC second team member.
Leslie and his Wolfpack teammates officially open the 2012-13 season next Friday, Oct. 12, with Primetime With The Pack presented by PNC. The event begins at 7 p.m., with PNC Arena doors opening at 6 p.m. Admission and parking is free. " |

i think leslie follows up his breakout year with more improvement. Mostly due to strength gains. The main difference b/t freshman and sophomore year was his improved body balance and shot selection.
I'm thinking:
31 min, 17.1 ppg, 7.9 reb, 1.4 ast, 1.3 stl, 1.9 blk, 2.2 to on .550/.610/.305 shooting on 6.7 FTA per game.
Overall, those are just monster numbers. The scoring will increase with our pace of play and hopefully his ability to get to the line even more. 10/2/2012 10:12:01 AM |

#7 Player in the country? (2 freshman in the top10)
http://sports.photos.usatoday.com/gallery/Ranking-the-top-college-hoops-players
Quote : | "No. 7 C.J. Leslie: Coach Mark Gottfried's heart had to skip a beat when Leslie finally made his decision to return to Raleigh. Just like that, pushover N.C. State became a national title contender and favorite to win the ACC over always dominant North Carolina and Duke. The 6-9 forward has an NBA game with his explosiveness, averaging 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds a game last season. As one of four returning starters on a Wolfpack squad bringing in top-tier freshmen, his decision has seemed all the more wise as the season nears. “I just figured we started a good thing last year,” Leslie said of hitting the pause button on his professional career. “We might as well finish it.”" |
