There's no way we lose in Tallahassee[Edited on March 7, 2013 at 8:59 PM. Reason : ]
3/7/2013 8:57:17 PM
w00tgo pack! the tourney starts this weekend, win and we're into the quarters!
3/7/2013 8:57:24 PM
and that puts UVA back on the bubble, ACC might be a 4 bid league this year
3/7/2013 8:59:53 PM
that bursts their bubble, too many bad losses
3/7/2013 9:00:47 PM
how is UVA on the bubble? their kenpom is top-20, they're a very good team]
3/7/2013 9:00:51 PM
They showed a graphic of all UVA's bad losses. There was like 10. How in the fuck were they even in consideration.
3/7/2013 9:01:35 PM
Thanks Snaer. I hope we get the 3 seed. I ain't skurred of Duke.
3/7/2013 9:02:32 PM
Kenpom loves "defensive" teams. UVA playing ball like its 1937 qualifies as good defense apparently.
3/7/2013 9:02:56 PM
but kenpom!
3/7/2013 9:03:00 PM
I want the highest seed possible but I'd prefer to get matched up in the same side as Miami over Duke/UNC
3/7/2013 9:03:56 PM
I know you're just trolling with Kenpom, but this was even before their loss:
3/7/2013 9:04:19 PM
looks like the weatherman needs to tweak his formula for the 10th straight season
3/7/2013 9:05:53 PM
i've read that the lowest rpi + kenpom rankings makes for a good ncaa field predictor
3/7/2013 9:06:15 PM
3/7/2013 9:28:24 PM
whats really funny about Virginia being 15th in the nation in kenpom going into today (with a 20-0 record) is that pomeroy had him ranked as a better team than Georgetownbubble team > #1 seed5th in the ACC > 1st in the Big East[Edited on March 7, 2013 at 9:39 PM. Reason : .]
3/7/2013 9:39:12 PM
Virginia will do well in the NIT
3/7/2013 9:57:26 PM
haha i meant 20-9 not 20-0
3/7/2013 10:16:34 PM
I do like how face lumped Virginia in with the "great" ACC teams like Duke, Miami and UNC just a week ago and said we don't measure up.I know the value of advanced statistics, but you also have to use your brain sometimes. Virginia is a team that can frustrate any team in the nation in to a close game. They are also a team that can, and has, frustrated their own fanbase in to figuring out how they fuck they lost 7 games against TERRIBLE teams. But they have to be NIT favorites.[Edited on March 7, 2013 at 10:21 PM. Reason : i also see wisconsin is on pace for 30 tonight]
3/7/2013 10:20:10 PM
theyll probably lose in the first round of the NIT to jacksonville state
3/7/2013 10:43:25 PM
Looks like Kentucky is headed for the NIT.
3/7/2013 10:49:19 PM
Kentucky is the new VPI
3/7/2013 10:55:05 PM
Everyone on UK hates Harrow.

I calculated the ranking I talked about a few posts up (credit to http://basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2053 )This method (according to the guy who came up with it) is as good (and better than most) "bracketology experts". These are the rankings from games through Wednesday. 40-60 are generally "on the bubble". If no automatic bids came from crappy conferences you could just pick the top 68, but obviously that isn't right. Somewhere around 50 is a good line to draw. So according to this method Virginia is solidly in (as is Kentucky). Team RPI KP Combined1 Duke 1 5 62 Louisville 3 3 63 FL 6 1 74 Kansas 5 6 115 Indiana 10 2 126 Gonzaga 9 4 137 Miami 4 13 178 Mich St 7 11 189 Michigan 8 12 2010 Ohio State 15 9 2411 Syracuse 16 10 2612 New Mexico 2 25 2713 Georgetown 12 18 3014 Marquette 11 24 3515 Arizona 14 23 3716 Minnesota 20 17 3717 VCU 24 14 3818 Colorado St 17 22 3919 Pittsburgh 35 7 4220 UNLV 13 30 4321 N. Men. That is just the average of RPI and Kenpom. The selection committee doesn't use Pomeroy's rankings. They look at record, quality wins, bad losses, last 10 games and RPI. If the team had a major injury during a losing streak, they factor that in as well.UVA and Kentucky are both on the outside looking in.
3/8/2013 1:54:16 AM
^^Only 2 of the top 50 aren't in Lunardi's latest bracket (Kentucky & S Miss are both on his last 4 out)
