couldn't resist. The first Saw had barely no effect on me the 2nd time through, however this one freaked me out equally as much as yesterday. The scene where the black dude appears on the stairs still made me jump
However, some KEY pickups the 2nd time through:
1) Amanda had bandages covering her wrists the entire film, I didn't notice that the first time through. 2) The TV in the room w/ victim #1 (venus fly trap guy) had moments showing channel 3 and moments where black tape covered the number...oops! 3) Amanda was OBVIOUSLY in on it if you paid attention, here's my list of giveaways: a) She found the tape recorder in that whole house in about 20 seconds. b) She willingly let the gunshot guy die b/c she knew everyone in that house eventually hadta die except her and the kid c) She defended Jigsaw LOUDLY after someone said "He wants us all to die" or something like that; she said "he wants us all to live, just play by the rules". She took up for him bigtime. d) Her facial expressions were key: when the convulsing chick says "x marks the spot", Amanda says, in a very stern and upset voice, "What?!" She furious that chick saw that. Right after Adisson (the girl who dies in the arm box) discovers who the boy is, her face tells her mind's story as she goes into "oh crap, the boy's in danger" mode. She then snaps the chick's neck as she's convulsing as if to "put her out of her misery", but in reality she's just rushing the solution. Adisson goes on to say "I can't trust any of you". e) Here's the biggest giveaway that she's in on it: Right after this, Amanda WALKS AWAY from the kid, I mean just peaces out on him, and he goes "Don't leave me..." Now Amanda walks in the original room & sees Jonas w/ the spike in his dome and thinks "CRAP, homekid is in big trouble". She now rushes RIGHT back to him and takes him arm in arm and goes on to save his life (and her plan). She suddenly gained a lot of interest in saving the kid.
4) Amanda was the only character to never cough up anything.
5) In the room w/ the "EXIT" on the door, there's one shot where the jacked up mexicano faces Jonas (black guy) and you see A MIRROR in the background...tough luck bub!
6) The door's countdown in the syringe pit room stayed on 1:23 for about 8 seconds, oops!
7) When the female cop says "He's relishing this, destroy his work", it flashes over to a wall w/ a drawing of a football helmet on the wall. Just to the right of that helmet is a drawing of a box hanging from a ceiling w/ a girl and her hands through it. That very box was to be seen in the flesh just minutes later in the movie.
8) When John instructs the cop to turn left and go to "the last house on the left", the director was giving props to a true originator of horror, Wes Craven, who had a 1972 filmed named "The Last House on the Left" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000068IEU/002-3069277-8366440?v=glance&n=130&v=glance)
9) The mexicano's neck was CLEARLY shown one time as he turned around...he had no number on his neck.
10) Adisson went for the glass box needle before listening to her tape...hmmmm.
11) And in the final shot of the movie, John smiles slightly. He was not dead at the conclusion of Saw II.
All in all, it was worth full price AGAIN. Wow. 10/29/2005 10:29:15 PM |

^now that I think about it, he'd need at least 2 mirrors to see the back of his neck
Also, Adisson (I'm assuming that's her name since you used it) goes right for the needle, probably, because she is sick of the games and it just looks easy.
Also, I suspected they'd still have John in Saw III 10/29/2005 11:04:40 PM |

the camera panned to her wrists a lot & she also was wearing, allthough stylish, hospital / institution scrubs.
so do you still think she broke that girls neck? you aren't the only person that got that impression but no one's really confirmed it or not.............10/29/2005 11:36:27 PM |

Oh definitely. The camera focuses on her hands around her neck WAY too much. And there's a slight "crack" sound that happens just before the camera pans to her 1 second after she's dead. Plus Adisson saying "I can't trust either of you finishes it off. 10/30/2005 12:13:48 AM |

***probably some SPOILERS in here***
I thought the old guy would be dead and the girl that survived the first time would take over his work. I was close, haha. And when she was on the floor in the beginning I just KNEW she was involved some how. But THEN it had to show her in that outfit like she has been an asylum and then it showed her cutting her wrists so it threw me off. So I knew going into the movie part of the twist, but at the same time they threw me off from it. Though the ending was great. Plot - great Twist - great Acting - for the most part horrible(especially the Wahlberg guy) Gore - awesome
Just wish they had gotten some better actors, save the old guy. 10/30/2005 9:45:14 AM |

I thought Donnie did awesome as well...overall, the acting was greatly improved since the last movie.
Honestly though, you have to understand that when directing these people to like "act like it's the most pain ever", they're acting something they haven't EVER experienced before. It's not like instructing someone to act sad that their mom died or something. Overall they did good. 10/30/2005 1:53:54 PM |

^ The whole "in the house" deathtrap happened probably days, or at least hours, before the cops arrived at Wilson Steel.
Also, there was ONE syringe in that safe, and so if everyone found out that he knew the secret to the combination, there'd be fighting about who gets the one in the safe. He decided he'd rather just kill everyone rather than argue about who gets it. 10/30/2005 7:46:00 PM |

i thought of this theory that i havn't seen proposed anywhere else.....
it's hard for me to accept that John simply selected Jonas, Xavier, Obi, Addison, Laura, Gus & Amanda based on them being set-up & arrested by Officer Matthews & this = the only test that was important in Saw 2. The test for Matthews to see his son alive again...........
so i think maybe venus fly-trap michael ( an informant for officer matthews ) ratted on them all & that's why they ever were arrested .... we know xavier was a drug dealer & amanda / obi were called "adicts" & it makes sense none of them would make it public if they recognized xavier & it makes sense why xavier acted like he did - he got called out on his tape & felt threatened by the others now....
??maybe 10/30/2005 10:40:30 PM |

I thought the movie was very entertaining but it wasn't as much of a thinker as the first.
in the first they had to solve puzzles to get out (or not)
In this one they didn't solve much... they just kinda went around and set off the traps.
Also, HOW FUCKING DUMB IS GLASS BOX GIRL!!!!!!!! Jesus... don't use BOTH hands... that HAD to be the easiest puzzle they've writen.
I wasn't a big fan of the numbers on the back of the neck bit. I would have liked somthing having to do with the Dad (Mark Wahlberg). After all he DOES say that they'll have to figure out what they all have in common (I called that really quickly by the way)
Anyway, even with the holes I was still VERY entertained!!!! I was really amped for like an hour after I saw it just b/c of all the adrenaline in my system.

Questions:
Why does Obi help Jigsaw round folks up? Is it my imagination, or does he say something to the effect of "you'd have done it too in my situation."
What is Obi's problem in the beginning? He walks around the house fixing pictures and shit.
Think Jigsaw expert sergeant lady will appear in the third movie if there is one?
Also, I don't know if you came across this bit of trivia about the original:
Quote : | "The demo scene James Wan and Leigh Whannell shot to present to Hollywood producers was the "reverse bear trap" scene, with Leigh in Shawnee Smith's place. The trap used in the demo scene was made by Wan's industrial designer friend To make it rusty, he placed it in salt water and left it on his roof for a week. Whannell, who acted in the demo scene, had to put the rusty trap in his mouth. In the movie, the trap worn by Amanda was professionally made with rust painted on. The demo trap was functional and able to tear a person's jaw off if manipulated correctly" |

Anyone else get the irony that all Mark Wahlberg had to do was sit there and talk to Jigsaw and he'd have seen his kid alive.

one thing i did notice is when she found the trap door there was no syringe by the black guy but when the officer went down looking for them all at the end there was like a half empty syringe that he put his flashlight on
also before the officer goes into the house jigsaw gives him a key, does he ever use it? is it for saw 3 do you think? 10/31/2005 12:05:32 AM |

^i was wondering that too
the game was set up by jigsaw, and amanda's role is keep him alive but she still have to play by the rules. the rules are made by jigsaw.
its not like it woulda been a big deal if the kid got killed. jigsaw would have to modify the game that the detective plays. its not really jigsaws style to have someone play and there reward be their child alive. he would rather the kid die. i think amanda actually thought the game would be funner the other way. thus the game is really a hybrid of the two visions of amanda/jigsaw
its said that this game is amanda's fist, but perhaps shes talking about the game that the detective will now play.
there are really 3 games here;
1. an easy one for the detective where he just needs to sit there (jig's design) 2. kid + convicts (amanda+jig's design) 3. a new game for when the detective loses the first game, he starts with the key, and back in the room of SAWI (amanda's design) SAW III probably

I don't think that Jigsaw wanted the kid to die. His whole thing is punishing people for what they have done in life, and although killing the kid would punish the cop for setting up those people, it would mean that the kid (who was for the most part innocent) would have to die. The kid (obviously) was just bait for cop, and aside from Xavier, he was never in any real danger.10/31/2005 7:34:29 AM |

FYI: The main character, the cop, isn't Mark Wahlberg... its Donnie Wahlberg, his brother I think
Also, I don't think the house was any of amanda's ideas, I think that it was jigsaw's... because at the end, doesn't she tell Wahlberg that he would be her first experiment?

^ he was punishing the cop for being rewarded for being such an asshole of a cop who used force to get things out of people. Had he listened to the old man and played his game, he would have been going against his natural behavior and would have gotten his son back. Because he went back to his old ways and beat the hell out of him he was punished and brought to the location where the old man knew he would fall into the trap of his apprentice. 10/31/2005 12:36:38 PM |

about that vial by the dead black guy, i dont think it was a used one that amanda fell into. the boy started taking them all out after she found the key, why would he or she leave one in there? it would be painful and noticeable, to go that distance with a needle sticking inside of you makes little sense, plus they dont show any of them in her after that room. the writers wanted us to see if for a reason and i dont know why.
ever find out about the key at the end? i dont know why theyd make a big deal about doors being locked, just to be more realistic? it seems like a minor detail to add in if thats all it was which is what leads me to think it is for the next one.
