How in Gods name can ANYONE justify giving Texas a #1 vote ove Duke? That is ludacris..
Syracuse, BC, and UNC should NOT be ranked. I don't have a problem with Louisville hanging on at 24th since they have been w/o Dean. They need to win some games now that he is supposedly coming back Weds..

Yeah I am not understanding why BC is still recieving at many votes as they are also. And maybe an AP writer forgot he was voting for college basketball not the final football poll when they voted for Texas.

IMO both polls are still stupid. I don't have a problem with UF falling, but GW ahead of us after we beat them by 21 is crazy. Their schedule is sooooo easy and their only good win is over Maryland.
At least Tennessee is finally getting some respect. 1/23/2006 3:33:55 PM |

UNC is ranked because the media sucks their dicks constantly, that is the only reason.
George Washington ahead us is insane too. Good thing these polls are practically meaningless and don't mean something like the BCS does. 1/23/2006 5:33:59 PM |

the main problem i see with the polls is that say a bubble team was to beat a team that was in the top 20 early on, like a Kentucky, but dropped out later on in the season upon everyone realizing that that team wasn't very good. that bubble team might be given credit for beating a top-20 team, and the NCAA selection committee might put them in citing that that was one of their quality wins. this could screw over a team like last years Davidson team. they went through the Southern Conference unbeaten, but lost in the championship game of their tournament. they were a pretty good team that should have been given a chance in the tourney. 1/23/2006 5:40:54 PM |

you just gotta realize that polls are meaningless. They are just writers picking whichever team they like the most or teams that have a lot of exposure over good quality teams. It's all a moot point come tourney time...rpi's the only poll that really matters for the selection committee...we just have to realize carolina will forever be a media favorite and will be in the top 25 or on the bubble. 1/23/2006 6:48:45 PM |

i cant figure out why gonzaga is always ranked so high...they play good ooc teams, lose, and then beat crappy teams by <10 the rest of the season. they get a high seed in the tournament, get to the 2nd round or so, and lose. 1/23/2006 6:57:26 PM |

AP poll sucks. The sad thing is GW shouldn't lose a game for the rest of the year, so they'll end up like 7 while we will move up and down but probably always stay around 13-18 because we actually play a schedule.
Good thing is as people say these polls don't mean much other then making GW a 3-4 seed in the tourny that will lose in the first or second round. I just don't get how anyone who actually knows college basketball can put GW ahead of us(who beat them by more then enough) ohio st. and ucla. They are the 21st best team in the country at best, not to mention their only quality win came over a UMD team that is also over rated. 1/23/2006 7:03:31 PM |

didnt really know where else to post this. Gottlieb had a chat session monday and a fella from raleigh got his question answered about the wolfpack
Quote : | "Robert (Raleigh, NC): Hey Doug, with a tough stretch for the Wolfpack out of the way, do you see NC State moving into a comfortable 2nd and challenging for 1st position in the ACC standings. Thanks Doug!
gottlieb: (5:09 PM ET ) They are so balanced with their offensive attack, I mean Atsur, Grant, Evtimov and Benerman are just the tip of the iceberg....I like N.C. State, but I am wary of some of the poor decisions they made in tight spots at UNC (whom they are better than) and at Duke. They lost both of those games because those brain cramps....if they can fix that, they have a shot to make another long run. " |

any time you have in-conference games left, you can't say that the tough stretch is behind you.
letting your guard down even a little or thinking you will win before going in, is among the worst things you could do to your season. 1/24/2006 11:58:34 AM |

To be frank, you have to be prepared for 1 to 2 losses left in the ACC, just because of the confrence. If we finish with less than 5 losses that would be awesome and put us in position to get a 2 or 3 seed. I think that is likely, do yall? 1/25/2006 3:18:09 PM |

Realistically, I'm thinking we are 17-20 range. Washington will fall to the last few spots, Indiana will fall to the 20s, UNC will go to 22. Texas will fall to 6, Pitt will rise to 5. Cuse out, Florida to 7. Mich State will rise in the polls bc the pollsters think they are great, UK could see a ranking again
oh and the imbreds go to about 20.
