^^ Nice, but can you sustain it? Your list is pretty risky--lots of penny stocks and pink sheets. Certainly more risk than I'm willing to take.

I was up 15% after my first three months, but then I stopped paying attention for a while and was back down to +5%. I'm still not back to my high water mark 6 months later.

Ditto. My boss emailed me a copy of his spreadsheet to use with my own stocks. I gives you pretty much anything that you wouldn't want to know about performance.

^^ I think (read hope) so. It's a continuation of a theme from last year, though I am up more at this time than I was a year ago same timeframe.

My own research indicates that they're all good buys but only time will prove me right or wrong. Hopefully, my research techniques are getting better - but I only post them here for the morbid curiousity of others.

what do you think about ebay after coming down like that?

^about ebay

their story seems to be about simultaneous margin expansion (via operational efficiencies) + revenue growth (via international markets). i can see the margin expansion happening in their domestic business, and as long as they don't dry those extra profits up too much by throwing it at funding international growth, you could see some good earnings news. at the same time, if China starts learning the finer points of capitalism sooner than expected, you could see some good news for ebay.

if a move from today's levels (under $38) to somewhere between $45 is acceptable in a period of a few months, you might want to consider it. i could see it going to $50 within a year. i've never looked at it closely, so i could have missed something, but at these levels you could see atleast 10-15% gains.

fyi, Cramer says to buy the ancillaries instead of ebay, such as RACK, AMD, AKAM, STX

SBUX went up about 20% from when I bought it.

Course I only had like 2 shares of it I'm not into just plain stocks--I usually stick to just mutual funds. I'm only beginning though, so later this year I may try something a little more risky simply to diversify.

i am not going to issue life science reccos anymore, because i work with pharma-biotech deals, and i don't want to unintentionally do something that may seem unscrupulous

i hope some of you proffited off of RNAI and CELG (i beat Kramer to the punchon both of those), and I hope you didn't lose too much on HGSI and VPHM

TIE has been in my portfolio and is awsome, great pick, i would get in, up a buck or two and get out. it will go up at least 10 points in the next two weeks i am guessing. strong market they are in.

I might have to dump my PFE for a slight loss and get some TIE.

Edit--
Current holdings:
GE, ALL, GOOG, BWNG, RMBS, PFE, UARM, LBIX*, LVLT*

Previous holdings:
DIS, GNBT*
Tossed Disney shortly after the Disner buying Pixar thing. It's up a little since them but not enough to offset what I've made off of it.
* = stocks bought just to mess around with

Me = +10% since mid-late March when I started trading actively trading.

Oh--and if someone can tell us about stocks like TIE before they go up 23495872398473284% that would be great. TIE is +568% for the past 52-weeks. That's almost as good as TASR...I remember when I called TASR back in high school. Could have been extra rich off of that one but it seemed a little risky to dump some GE/DIS/ALL for some TASR. Hindsight is 20/20...

I definitely hope so. I sold all my BWNG, LBIX, UARM, and PFE (UARM, PFE and LBIX at a slight loss...) to pick up TIE.

In the end I don't mind slight losses on small stocks, as I might be able to deduct them (if less than $3,000) on my taxes for this coming year. Even if I end up with a capital gain, you can offset part of your gain with your loss, again, up to $3,000, so that you don't pay as much in capital gains taxes.

GRP - Earnings up 137%, Beat expectations 20%, Raise guidance

Now THAT's what I'm talking about.

This is the kind of stock to own. Nothing speculative.
They make something - drill bits for oil/gas exploration.
They have 8 month sof order backlog (book to bill is 2.5:1, waaaaay higher than 1)

Up 10% already today. Well, yeah - if you are 20% ABOVE expectations and
you raise the bar another 10%, I should think 10% is the least the stock
should move. They even beat the highest analyst's expectations. They keep
beating expectations every quarter.

TXN can grow a little bit and the stock jumps 10%. GRP grows by huge leaps
and the stock moves the same.

To paraphrase Rodney Dangerfield - this stock gets no respect

i think the TXN stock moves are more cyclical than fundamental

same goes for Rambus

chip and chip equipment stocks generally lead rallies. if the gains are sustained, it usually means that the rally is for real.

TIE had a massive run up and is pulling back. Profit taking.

If you own, you might want to set a Stop Order.

I believe it's a temporary dip, but ya never know.
