it's a longshot but vaughn is good friends with wright.
scout.com lists vaughn's top interest as being unc (haven't offered him a scholly as of yet). and we are a medium interest. if unc doesn't give him an offer, he may be inlcined to come here with chris and beat unc for not letting him come there. (ie bobby hurley at duke).
it was just a possibility. even without vaughn that is gonna be a good class though. it would be a great class with him.

Not rubbing anything in or whatever, just letting it be known that stats are correct. Per statefansnation btw. Of course we were 10 seed b/c we(Jules) beat UConn to reach the Sweet 16. But thanks for playing. 3/22/2006 2:04:06 PM |

^^Wasn't it Charlotte who had that sharp shooter named Brendan Plavich that put a hurtin' on us? I remember Lutz had a pretty strong squad last year. Don't recall the vegas line but I think it was double digits. Or maybe that was uconn. meh
^Yes you're right. xplosivo's numbers do add up correctly to 8-38 though. So maybe he was trying to remember right off the top of his head or just got a game mixed up.

just the fact that a Conference USA school who didnt even win their league was a higher seed than us... 3/22/2006 2:50:27 PM |

I actually think I left out the 03-04 numbers.
It really doesn't make that big of a difference if you want to get down to it.
below average is still below average.
Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with Herb as a person. He is a nice guy who I have had the pleasure to meet several times. And I think he is a decent coach. He is just not the right coach for NC State. Like it or not, State is in the ACC and to succeed in this league requires talents beyond x's and o's. You have to be able to motivate your players and the fanbase. He isn't doing that. Although, I will freely admit that if he could get the team to perform better I (as well as many others I would say) would be far more willing to forgive his lack of personality. 3/22/2006 3:25:19 PM |

so answer me this...the decline of wake forest from last year to this year...lots of it probably having to do with losing chris paul...and yes wake beat us 2 out of 3 this year...but going from a top 5 national team last year to 12th place in the conference 1 year later...when has Herb EVER fallen off that much? the answer is...never 3/22/2006 3:26:56 PM |

Vaughn is far from a Sean May clone. He's closer to Marvin Williams than Sean May.
He's not fat and he can shoot threes.
He's also either going to UNC or Duke. UNC will eventually offer...he's too good not to offer.3/22/2006 3:27:01 PM |

Herb hasn't fallen that far because he hasn't had the chance.
You have to reach some heights in order to fall a great distance.
The difference will be if Wake spends the next 5-6 years as a mediocre team or is this is a rebuilding year. UNC had though with Doh and Duke had that 9-whatever season a few years ago. Happens to everyone. 3/22/2006 3:29:45 PM |

my point is that we're not talking about getting laid which pretty much everyone can do if they put forth some effort
we're talking about winning a national championship, something that only 1 team does a year, and that only a couple dozen have ever done, a small percentage of the hundreds of D1 teams
so why dont you think about how you got laid in 83 and 74 and there are some teams who have never even gotten to the final fourth base

Well, using your logic there, pretty much anyone can have a 20 win season as long as they front load their schedule with creampuffs. winning 20 games these days isn't a real good representation of a team's strength. In some cases, yes, but it is pretty easy to fudge that number.3/22/2006 5:26:55 PM |

Herb just needs to be tougher and more emotional with our players. When you think about the injuries and the not so so great players we have to begin with, getting to the second round is not that bad. Yes we need to get some nice recruits and he could do a bit better in that department. 3/22/2006 10:56:42 PM |

Not necessarily. I think next year really depends on the development of Cedric Simmons, Grant, and Fells...but mainly Simmons.
Simmons has scary potential. He was still raw this year. If Simmons becomes the force can be, Grant continues the great play he exhibited at the end of this year, and Fells plays up to his potential...we could have a big year next year.3/23/2006 12:38:38 AM |
